🎉 In May, we honored our Excellence in Education recipients for the 2025–26 school year, outstanding teachers and support staff who make a lasting impact in their schools.

To make the evening even more meaningful, a colleague from each recipient’s school community shared a few words about what makes their school’s honoree so special. In some cases, students even joined in to express the impact these individuals have had on their school.

🎒📚 We had a blast celebrating back to school with some of our youngest learners on Friday!

The NPS Family Center and Norwalk Mutual Aid partnered to host the Pre-K & Kindergarten Back to School Celebration, bringing families together for an afternoon of fun as they prepared for the new school year. Students picked out FREE backpacks and books, enjoyed games and activities, and families connected with valuable community organizations and service providers.

We can’t thank our sponsors enough! A special thank you to the Human Services Council, Norwalk Early Childhood Partnership: A Local Governance Partner, Chase, Bright Future Books, and the City of Norwalk, CT for helping make this event possible. 💙

We wish all of our students and families a safe and happy first day of school. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back next Wednesday!

🍎 Welcome to Norwalk Public Schools, new teachers!

We were thrilled to welcome our newest educators to the district this morning for New Teacher Orientation. Our new teachers heard from Interim Superintendent Sandra Faioes, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Rob Pennington, and Norwalk Federation of Teachers President Mary Yordon as they prepared to begin their NPS journey. 👏

🎓 The NPS Curriculum team introduced teachers to our Portrait of a Graduate initiative, which enters Phase Three this year with the introduction of our third competency: Self-Directed Learner. Teachers then dove deeper into their curriculum through breakout sessions focused on their subject areas.

☕🥯 Thank you to our breakfast sponsor, the New Canaan Group with Equitable Advisors, for supporting our dedicated educators!

🎉 And we're just getting started! We look forward to welcoming back all of our teachers on Monday and our entire staff on Tuesday before opening our doors to students for the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

🎒 Happy Back to School Month! We can't wait to have everyone back!
