On this solemn day, The Readiness Collective pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who have selflessly served our great nation. As we pay tribute to the fallen heroes, we also express our gratitude and respect for all veterans who have carried the torch of freedom with immense courage and dedication.

One of the greatest joys and pleasures in life sits hidden in plain site in most peoples communities without them realizing it is even there.

and departments are bastions of back to the basic rock solid community principals.

Work to better yourself to be more capable of service to others. Some may think it’s far to much of a commitment or that they could never do it.

For those who take the simple step of showing up and giving it a try - we would argue they are far better for it and come to appreciate it more than they could ever give back through the service.

The more time we spend abroad in some form of a crisis, disaster or war zone the more we feel like we need to return to the US to address a real emergency of another kind.

Today we covered a lot of ground in along the border and various zones impacted by the earthquake.

There were areas far harder hit than others and teams plying their trade to assist whether through recovery efforts or last ditch hopes of activities.

Countless friends and colleagues warned us of the dangers in Turkey from a security perspective, and we’re not doubting their validity but it’s so important to also acknowledge and celebrate the more palpable reality of kindness, generosity and solidarity that is so often found in these devastating environments despite race or creed.

We found an open Baklava shop in Gaziantep and walked into a family eating dinner.

Before we could open our mouths they beckoned us in and put their own food in front us. Plate after plate, it was the most delicious treat of nourishment and hospitality we have had since leaving Ukraine on our last trip.

This is 🇹🇷 - kind warm hospitality even from a family living in a shop because their building collapsed.

Imagine walking into a bakery in the US and having this happen?

As we continue to deal with the very real realities of Turkey and Ukraine we cant but wonder what role strong cohesive communities might play in preventing conflict and accelerating recovery.

This is why we continue to do this work abroad… to learn from the strength of other cultures and how we might apply the lessons to rekindling the strength of our own communities back home.

A hardy thank you to the community for always stepping up in huge ways to support our efforts. We would be without mobility if it weren’t for fellow alumni in Turkey.

It’s been hard to be away from the community for almost a year. Coming home and experiencing such incredible support from everyone was refreshing and inspiring.

Thank you to everyone that came out last night to build 600 medical kits that the TRc and teem will be taking back overseas this week.

In the past year the team has collectively trained over 600 personnel, delivered thousands of kits and other critical items to last mile front line area of need and supported thousands of individuals and families from evacuation needs to providing trauma training.

While the equipment and skills are important it is that is the critical tool.

There is a unique dynamic overseas anchored by a new breed of solidarity that codifies hyper local and international community support. It is this dynamic of unlikely people coming together in a unified manner that is so powerful and last night was a perfect example of that dynamic in action. You all have taken direct action for real time material impact.

War is lunacy and there is no black and white good vs evil, it is all terrible. But one truth and glimmer of hope rings true. When people across social and cultural divides work together, good things materialize and impossible things become reality.

Join us at the club Sunday January 29th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm to build 600 medical kits in our medkits maker-space for hand delivery to frontline units in in early February.

The team, part of the Readiness Collective family has been in Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict providing support, training and humanitarian relief.

Training and kits we have previously provided have saved documented lives of citizen soldiers, so your effort will be material.

If you want some first hand perspective and to have real tangible impact come join us to pack and prepare these kits.

The training we have offered through the club is similar to what we have offered overseas and it really saves lives.

come in all different shapes and sizes. My favorite flavor are the ones I run into in disaster and crisis environments around the world.

I’m not talking about the disaster capitalists. I’m talking about those that run successful businesses that drop everything to leverage their skills, contacts and perspective to address the issues at hand.

We call these and as the geopolitical landscape continues to shift and evolve, academic institutions would be well suited to implement hybrid entrepreneurial-humanitarian curriculums.

The a-symmetric challenges of our day require new approaches and perspective… new capabilities that are not just tech centric but that focus on the human domain.

The man in this photo is one such individual that has charged into the breach to serve his fellow citizens.

The infrastructure to enable anyone to become more capable and ready to be capable and of service already exists and is free.
We exist to educate and train people to be calm, cool, collected and excited to be useful when most freeze. Today fewr is the common dominator because so many simply live without the mindset, skills or tools to be an asset in uncommon times.
The best school of all for emergency preparedness is your local and departments.
The greatest survival skill and tool is community. So get connected and get trained while serving your neighbors.
