Elementary students enjoyed an inspiring and music-filled experience through the Peace Culture Music Program with Daniel Scruggs. Daniel shared his love of music and culture while introducing students to a unique collection of instruments he has gathered during his travels around the world. It was a wonderful opportunity for our Flyers to explore different cultures and discover how music can bring people together. Second graders stepped back in time during a fun-filled day at Lyme Village! Students explored the historic village and discovered what life was like in the Firelands during the 1800s and early 1900s. From learning about the first settlers to exploring life in the past, our Flyers had a wonderful hands-on history experience.

Ms. Jody from the Firelands Symphony Orchestra visited our elementary students to introduce them to the wonderful world of orchestral music! Students explored a variety of instruments, learned how each one contributes to the orchestra’s unique sound, and even had the opportunity to see how the instruments are played. It was a fun and educational experience that brought the joy of music to life for our Flyers.

The Early Childhood enjoyed a lovely Pet Blessing last Friday! Students and families gathered with their beloved pets for both the morning and afternoon events, led by Deacon Dave Rospert. It was a beautiful day to come together, celebrate the special bond between people and their pets, and honor St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

The St. Paul HS Academic Challenge team kicked off their season yesterday (Tuesday) with their highest-scoring match performance since the year 2020! The Flyers amassed 58 points while beating Port Clinton (33) and Sandusky (28). Of all 18 teams competing in Firelands Challenge, St. Paul scored 3rd-highest in Round I and currently holds a playoff spot!

Starring for the Flyer Academic Challenge team were captains Anna Wright and Henry Palau; seniors Elaina Coriell, Kade Houck, and Joey Alt; juniors Frances Donnelly and Jacob Penwell; and sophomore Owen Fries. It was truly a full-team performance that set the tone for what's sure to be a highly-successful season.

Also on the team this year are sophomores Noah Alt, Ariah Kusser, and Wyatt Shumway, as well as freshman Franklyn Wright. The team is advised by Mr. Jacob Conley. Their next match will take place Tuesday, October 20th against 1st place Edison, as well as Lakota High School.

Senior Ella Kalizewski made history last night, becoming just the third player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills! Ella reached the milestone as the number 5 ranked Flyers swept Plymouth in three sets.

With the victory, the Flyers improved to 14-3 overall and 11-0 in the Firelands Conference. Congratulations, Ella, on this incredible accomplishment!

2nd grade students practiced remembering to use a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence and punctuation at the end. They wrote sentences using their spelling words while putting these important writing skills into practice. The boys also enjoyed reading together in Mrs. Phillips' rocking chair, and the whole group shared a smile for a class photo as they read their story together.
