October is International AAC Awareness Month. 💬💙
AAC, or Augmentative and Alternative Communication, gives children additional ways to express what they want, need, think, and feel.
What can that actually look like? A child might point to a picture to ask for a snack, tap a word or symbol on a communication device, use gestures to make a choice, or combine spoken words with pictures or signs.
This month, we celebrate all the different ways children communicate. ✨

Research continues to highlight the value of caregiver training in supporting children’s communication, behavior, and everyday skills.
A 2026 systematic review of caregiver training programs for children with autism found that 22 of 24 studies reported positive outcomes, including improvements in caregiver knowledge, child behavior, and social communication.
