One of my favorite parts of doing a big multigenerational show is watching our students start to lead, connect, and help build the kind of community that makes theatre feel like THEATRE.

☂️ STEP IN TIME! ☂️
Broadway Karaoke & Dance Night is coming to RSPA!

Join us Saturday, October 17 from 6:45–9:45 PM at West Rocks Middle School for a full night of music, dancing, games, and some good old-fashioned RSPA chaos. 🎤💃✨

We’ve got:

* 🎤 Broadway karaoke
* 💄 Lip Sync for Your Life
* 💃 Dance party
* 🎶 Group sing-alongs
* 📸 Photo booth
* 🎭 Student emcees
* 🍿 Snacks included
* ☂️ Plenty of surprises and chances to get the whole RSPA community involved

This is also a fundraiser for Rising Stars Performing Arts, helping us raise money for new costume storage shelves and bins and continue improving the resources available to our students.

Meet our Mary Poppins Jr. dance captains, Greta Radecki and Caroline Brooks! ☂️✨

Our choreographer, John Ray, was looking for two students who could pick up choreography quickly and help lead the cast as we bring these big musical numbers to life. Greta and Caroline have already shown those skills in rehearsal, and we’re so excited to see them take on these roles!

A huge thank-you to RSPA alumna and current Western Connecticut State University Musical Theatre junior Nyelle Gogarty for spending the past two weeks teaching our dancers hip-hop and musical theatre! 💃🏽🎶

Nyelle is now heading back to school to ramp up rehearsals for Bright Star—so thank you, Nyelle, and go see her and her talented friends shine! 🌟

THE SINGING ACTORS LAB
Collegiate Vocal Performance, Interpretation & Repertoire Coaching

AKA: The Broke College Singer Special™

The Singing Actors Lab is an online coaching class for serious singers ages 16+ who want another place to work on repertoire outside of their regular lessons, classes, and conservatory training.

Bring whatever you’re already working on — jury repertoire, audition cuts, art songs, arias, musical theatre, or a piece you just haven’t quite figured out yet. Each week, singers will have the opportunity to perform, get coached, and learn from watching each other work.

We’ll focus on things like acting through song, diction and IPA, language, translation, vocal technique, style, musical and dramatic interpretation, audition and jury preparation, and overall performance practice.

The goal is simple: high-level work in a supportive room.

No grades. No pressure to have everything figured out before you sing. Just a place to try things, make stronger choices, ask questions, and keep growing.

And because college is already expensive enough…

✨ MARY POPPINS JR. AUDITIONS ARE HERE! ☂️

We are so excited to announce auditions for our multi-generational production of Mary Poppins Jr. at Rising Stars Performing Arts!

This production is specially structured into two rehearsal classes so that every student gets the attention, training, and rehearsal environment they need to thrive:

🔹 WEDNESDAY CLASS (Grades 2–7)
Primarily for supporting roles, featured ensemble roles, and younger performers who will benefit from focused rehearsal time, character work, music, and choreography.

🔹 SATURDAY CLASS (Grades 8–11)
Primarily for older students taking on principal roles and more advanced material, with extended rehearsal time for deeper work in acting, singing, and performance.

⭐ SPECIAL AUDITION OPPORTUNITY FOR 6TH & 7TH GRADERS
Students in grades 6–7 who would like to be considered for the Saturday class are invited to audition!

📅 Audition Date: Friday, September 4th
🕔 Time: 5:00–7:00 PM

🎵 Please prepare:

* A song of your choosing
* Under 2 minutes
* With a backing track
* YouTube accompaniment is okay
* No vocal tracks

If a student cannot attend, they may submit a self-tape, although in-person auditions are preferred.

Students selected for Saturday will still be expected to attend some Wednesday rehearsals when possible for extra practice and to help serve as leaders within the younger company.

With 25+ named and featured roles, there are so many exciting opportunities for performers of all ages! Sign up for either class— we can shift over enrollment once casting is complete very easily from our end once a student is fully enrolled and committed!

Our new multigenerational production with around 25 named roles! Younger students get focused class time before joining the full cast.

Wednesdays: Grades 2–7 | 4:30–6:30 PM
Saturdays: Grades 8–11 | 12:15–4:15 PM
6th & 7th graders may audition for Saturdays.

Grades 8–College | Tuesdays 6:30–9:30 PM
College audition prep + performance training.

🎬 BEST OF BROADWAY
Grades 8–12 | September–March
A new year-long model focused on creating and developing original work.

🎤 VOICE, SPEECH & DICTION
Sundays | Zoom
Dialects, diction, text and foreign-language singing.

🎼 INTERMEDIATE MUSIC THEORY
Wednesdays | 7:30–9:00 PM
Build stronger musicianship, theory and sight-reading skills.

💃 RHYTHM & BLUES with Jess
Hip-Hop + Lyrical
Saturdays | 10:45 AM–12:00 PM

The BIGGEST congratulations to everyone who helped us officially close out an incredible RSPA Summer 2026 with You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown! 💛🎭☀️

What a summer — Brian Friel’s Lovers, Bugz, both Broadway Bound Intensives, On the Shoulders of Giants, Art of Singing, Summer Arts Intensive in Berlin, our Charlie Brown cover performance, and finally two fantastic performances of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!

Our students spent the summer singing, acting, dancing, traveling, creating, taking risks, and growing together through musical theatre, opera, straight theatre, concerts, camps, and full productions.

To every student, family, faculty member, creative, technician, volunteer, and audience member who made it all possible — THANK YOU.

That’s a wrap on RSPA Summer 2026. We are exhausted, grateful, insanely proud… and already excited for what comes next. ❤️✨
