Hikari Taiko Hikari Taiko was founded in 1978 and has called the Southeast Japanese School and Community Center in Norwalk home since its inception. Come and check us out!

At Hikari Taiko, our mission is to support and promote awareness of Japanese-American culture by teaching and performing the traditional art form of taiko drumming. Our songs range from traditional taiko rhythms and stylized movements to pieces that convey a story or theme. We’ve performed onstage at various amphitheaters; entertained people at weddings, corporate and private parties; educated stu

dents at schools and libraries; conducted workshops to introduce taiko to our audiences, and celebrated various cultural events. We love doing the drumming for Ondo Festival dancing, and even performed taiko while marching in a Disney-themed parade! We hope to enlighten our audience to the rich and colorful Japanese culture and to promote the understanding of its artistic heritage.

Festival weekend is HEEEERRREE!!! 🎉

The 2026 SEJSCC Cultural Festival & Ondo begins today at 3:00 pm and continues Sunday from 2:00 pm!

Taiko performances will be outside:
• SAT @ 6:00 pm
• SUN @ 5:30 pm
We’ll also lead the Soran Bushi fisherman’s dance right after each performance.
