We may not have students studying abroad this fall, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have countless untold stories from abroad left to share. We’ll be sharing some travel photos and stories from our staff and students here - keeping the hope alive, that #wewilltravelagain and Global Ed is here to help YOU make it happen!
First up: Alida Gomez, our study abroad advisor:
When my oldest was 14 months old, I traveled to Ghana with President Hanno and a group of students for two weeks. I started a tradition of sending my son a postcard on any trip I took without him. A year later, when I found out I was pregnant with twins, I thought I’d be hard pressed to ever send another postcard. But just after their first birthday, I was off again! I visited Finland, Estonia, Japan, Tanzania and Kenya, all before their second bday. I was so lucky to visit these 5 countries in 2019, to add postcards to the map and stamps to my passport. Today, in the face of of it all, I know #wewilltravelagain
We will travel again!
I’m Traveling, Even Though I’m Stuck at Home For the past 30 years, I’ve spent every summer abroad in Europe. Now I’ve realized that traveling isn’t just a pastime—it’s a mindset.

Candice Appiah, Class of 2021, is abroad in Denmark this spring and is a DIS - Study Abroad student blogger! Check out her blog as she embraces all things hygge!
What is Hygge? Candice says it best:
"It speaks to a core value of Danish culture creating a good vibe ad taking it wherever you go. Hygge isn’t just one type of relaxation, it’s a curation of all the things and people that make you feel safe & warm.... Hygge is a parent biking with their child down the street to spend time with them; it’s doing work in your favorite cafe with friends and warm beverages; it’s the Danish pastries my core course professors bring with tea and coffee to every class we’ve had so far. It’s the vegetarian and gluten free dinners my Residential Community shares every Monday."
Hygge Me, Please! The start of week three in Denmark wasn’t as gracious to me as the first two but despite the slight challenge that has presented itself , I’d like to think I’m still thriving. Over the course…
