Norton Public Schools

A well-rounded education experience, a supportive and collaborative learning climate, a cohesive and caring community: that's Norton Public Schools.

Located in the Town of Norton in Southeastern Massachusetts, the Norton Public Schools educates approximately 2,500 students in grades PreK-12. Our five school buildings include one elementary school on the east side of town for students in grades K-3, one elementary school on the west side of town for students in grades PreK-3, one elementary school for all students in grades 4 and 5, one middle school for all students in grades 6-8, and one high school for all students in grades 9-12.

Mission: To promote individual talents and maximize each studentโ€™s potential.

[04/19/20]   Starting on Monday, April 20 the Norton Public Schools will begin serving meals to Norton residents Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. On Friday, participants will receive 3 meal packs to account for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each participant will be provided with breakfast and lunch 7 days a week during the COVID-19 crisis. Please note that this is now open to all residents in Norton, which will allow parents to get meals as well.

Participants are directed to pull around the back of the Norton High School and follow the directions of the food service staff.

If you are not able to get to the high school to pick up meals, or if you have any questions about the program, please contact Matt Wells at 508-285-0100 ext 4 and then option 1 or through email at [email protected].

AG Healey Warns Public About Increased Risks Associated with Smoking and Vaping During COVID-19 Crisis: https://www.mass.gov/news/ag-healey-warns-public-about-increased-risks-associated-with-smoking-and-vaping-during-covid

[04/07/20]   Just a reminder that during the extended school closure Norton Public Schools grounds, including playgrounds and the high school track, are closed to all visitors.

Due to this rapidly changing health crisis, it is important to take extra precautions. Coronavirus can remain viable in the air for up to three hours and without proper disinfection, can remain on surfaces for days, leaving community spaces as potential sources of infection.

In order to lessen the risk and keep all members of the Norton community safe, all NPS grounds have been closed since March 16 and will remain closed until further notice.

Home - Norton School District

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, the District is aware that the financial situation of some of our families has changed. We ask that any family that has had a change in their financial situation go online to the Norton Public Schools website and complete an application for Free and Reduced Meals.

The application can be accessed by going to https://www.norton.k12.ma.us/. Once on the home page, please mouse over โ€œQUICKLINKSโ€ in the top right corner, then click on โ€œFree and Reduced Online Applicationโ€. The application takes about ten minutes to complete.

This application process will not affect the current meal pick-up program, which we plan to continue in its current format, but completed applications may help the School District if future reimbursement is made available due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Please contact Matthew Wells, School Business Administrator, directly if you have any questions or concerns: [email protected]

norton.k12.ma.us Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates - Norton School District

[03/11/20]   Message from Dr. Joseph F. Baeta, Superintendent of Norton Public Schools:

Misinformation continues to be circulated concerning the Coronavirus and students and staff within our schools. The information below is from the Department of Public Health (DPH):

โ€œWe (districts) asked DPH that same question this weekend and we got confirmation that relatives who are living with those self-quarantining can attend school and/or work. We received that information from Dr. Stephen Fleming from DPH. That obviously could change if any or all start showing symptoms or test positive. Then you would strictly follow additional DPH guidelines.โ€

Furthermore, the letter that went out from Norwood at the end of the week also noted that their health agent said children of people who are under self quarantine can come to school.

Earlier today I met with Town of Norton officials, including the Norton Board of Health, and the same information was communicated.

I know that positive results may happen and that may cause self-quarantine situations. However, we do not have such information from any student or employee. I expect to have multiple employees and students who come to work or school and someone in their family is self-quarantined.

Please see my prior release on what to expect from March 11-25th. I will provide communication regularly.
