🌪️➡️💧 From tornadoes to geysers!

What was originally used to explore tornado dynamics became the inspiration for one of our students to investigate something completely different—geyser dynamics.

By observing patterns of motion, pressure, and flow, the student creatively adapted prior learning to model how geysers erupt and release energy in bursts. It’s a great example of how STEM learning connects across topics and how one idea can spark another!

🧪🔬 Chemistry in action at Stemtree!

Today our students ran a hands-on experiment to investigate whether chalk dissolves faster in water or vinegar. Along the way, they explored key chemistry concepts like acids, bases, and neutral substances.

Using pH strips, they tested and compared solutions, making real-world connections between what they observe and the science behind it. It was a great example of how chemistry isn’t just in textbooks—it’s happening all around us!

🧪✨ Exploring Friction in Action!

Today our students investigated the science of friction using something they know best—their own shoes!

By attaching rubber bands and testing different surfaces, they were able to feel and measure how friction changes depending on texture and material. Smooth surfaces, rough surfaces, and everything in between helped them discover how friction affects motion in real life.

Hands-on experiments like this turn abstract science concepts into something students can see, feel, and understand. 🧠🔬👟

🫀🦴 The human body is one of our most popular science topics—and it's easy to see why!

Kids love learning about the amazing organ systems that keep us alive and functioning every day. From the brain and lungs to the heart and digestive system, there's so much to discover.

To bring their learning to life, students create their own "skeleton person," complete with the organs they've learned about at Stemtree. It's a fun, hands-on way to explore anatomy while reinforcing important scientific concepts.

Learning is always more exciting when you can build what you learn! 🔬✨

⚙️ Gear Ratios Matter!

Did you know that the way gears are arranged can determine how fast a vehicle moves, how much power it has, and how efficiently it performs?

Today, our students explored the fascinating world of gear ratios by rearranging gears and testing different configurations to make their vehicles work properly. Through hands-on experimentation, they're learning that engineering is often about problem-solving, testing, and improving designs.

One small change in a gear train can make a big difference! 🚗⚙️🧠

🤖 Mission Accepted!

Our older robotics students don't just follow instructions—they solve challenges.

This student was given a mission: build a robot car and program it to navigate a self-designed course filled with twists and turns, using only distance as the coding variable. No line-following sensors. No shortcuts. Just careful planning, creative engineering, and smart coding.

The route is partially built, the robot has been stabilized with small rocks for added balance, and the work is officially underway.

Will the robot successfully complete the course? Will the coding be precise enough to conquer every turn?

🌱 Stemtree of Norton is now home to yet another bean plant!

This little plant is the result of a student's plant-growth experiment, and we're honored that they chose to donate it to our STEM center. 😊

What started as a science lesson about seeds, growth, and observation has turned into a lasting reminder of curiosity, learning, and hard work.

Thank you to our young scientist for helping our indoor garden grow! 🌿🔬

⚛️ Everything around us—from the air we breathe to the stars in the sky—is made of atoms.

Today, our young scientist built a model of an atom and explored the tiny particles that make up all matter: protons, neutrons, and electrons.

It's amazing to think that something so small can be the building block of an entire universe!

Learning science is all about making the invisible visible. 🔬✨
