Hatton-Northwood speech has finished up our regular season speech meets with two tournaments at BCN and MPCG.

The Speech team placed 2nd at the BCN Speech Meet on Saturday, March 29. We had new state qualifiers: Willow Pollert in Inform; Hannah Scholand/Bryce Scholand in Serious Duo; and Alora Berke in Impromptu.

Hatton-Northwood Speech attended the MPCG Speech Meet on Saturday, March 22. The team placed 3rd overall, coming in behind Horace and Kindred. We had one new state qualifier - Ava Olson in Dramatic. Other individual placings included Jaida Vivier - 4th Impromptu; Hannah Scholand - 4th Serious; Jersie Vivier - 7th Serious; Gage Geier - 4th Entertain; Olivia Beaudoin - 8th Entertain; Olivia Beaudoin - 7th Persuade; Ava Olson - 1st Dramatic; Evy Mutchler - Top Novice Poetry; Evy Mutchler - 4th Humorous; Gracie Thorsgard - 2nd Extemp; Ava Olson/Gage Geier - 4th Serious Duo; Jaida Vivier/Jersie Vivier - 5th Serious Duo; Hannah Scholand/Bryce Scholand - 6th Serious Duo; Willow Pollert - 6th Inform.

Hatton-Northwood Speech placed 2nd at the Drayton tournament on Saturday, March 8. The Thunder ended the day with 117 points, losing out to the Grand Forks Knight Riders, who had 135 points. The tournament had a coffee-cup theme and the participant trophies were coffee mugs.

The Thunder had a great day, adding four events to their state roster: Ava Olson and Addilyn Groven state-qualified in Humorous Duo; Jersie Vivier and Jaida Vivier state-qualified in Serious Duo; Gage Geier qualified for state in Entertain; Hannah Scholand state-qualified in Poetry; and Ava Olson qualified again for state in Humorous.

All students on the team came home with awards. The other results include: Jersie Vivier 2nd in Serious; Peyton Bumgardner 4th in Serious; Talia Sheggerud 6th in Serious; Evy Mutchler 3rd in Poetry; Salem Yates 6th in Poetry; Hannah Scholand and Gage Geier 4th in Serious Duo; Dorothy Turner and Talia Sheggerud 7th in Serious Duo; Willow Pollert 7th in Dramatic; Evy Mutchler 2nd in Humorous; Bria Lenz 8th in Inform; Willow Todd and Shaelynn Wall Top Novice in Humorous Duo; Dorothy Turner and Josette Lemay 7th in Humorous Duo; Jaida Vivier 4th in Impromptu; Salem Yates 8th in Impromptu; Addilyn Groven 3rd in Radio; Willow Pollert 7th in Persuade; Olivia Beaudoin 3rd in Entertain; Ivy Sheggerud 3rd in Exetmp Speaking.

The Thunder is coached by Sarah Burger, Meagan Monreal, and Kevin Beaudoin. Their next tournament is next weekend at MPCG.

The Hatton-Northwood Speech Team travelled to Park River on Saturday, February 15 and placed 3rd in the tournament. Congratulations to Ava Olson, who placed 1st and state qualified in Humorous, and to Olivia Beaudoin, who also state qualified by taking 1st.
