JADE is proud to announce that we will be hosting events for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week next week on campus! Visit us Monday through Wednesday as we promote positive body image with activities, crafts and outdoor meditations! We'll have an awesome keynote speaker, Dr. Theresa Larson DPT, speak for us on Wednesday about eating disorders and body image in the military, don't miss it!

Barbie along with many other children's toys unfortunately set a very unrealistic standard of what we should look like to our youth. I think this a positive step for us. Having an "average" very realistic Barbie could be beneficial to the mental health of our future children! What do you think?

A new doll represents the average woman, and she's beautiful just the way she is.

We are SO proud of our President, Anne Jensen, for representing what JADE stands for in an interview with CSUN On Point! In there discussion about eating disorders and influences on body image, Anne explains how media plays a big role in defining an ideal image to Americans.

On Point looks at distorted body image and the eating disorders than can result, with JADE President Anne Jensen Smith, Get Real! student participant Avery Rodriguez, and eating disorder therapist Vanessa Birdsong.
