👾 Smear by Mehrnoosh Eskandari, will be on view in the Valley Performing Arts Center Gallery, November 17 - December 16. Opening Reception, Saturday November 18th from 5-7pm.
Mehrnoosh Eskandari first studied Industrial Design at the Tehran Azad Markaz University in Tehran, Iran and began painting as a response to the existential void it created. Her gestural, psychological, and seemingly naive portraits examine humanity’s futile aspirations and shortcomings, and the physicality of layered paint and other materials render the portraits animatedly ambiguous, like clowns, who seem to cry and laugh at once. 😂 Eskandari earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts from CSUN in 2017. She lives and works in the San Fernando Valley.
