Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Wildfire Resiliency Summit! 🔥

This year’s gathering served as a key convener for our region, bringing together leaders, researchers, educators, district partners, nonprofits, and community members committed to advancing wildfire preparedness and resilience. 💪

Alongside powerful presentations from Staff Chief John Morgan, Dr. Yan Searcy, Executive Director David Barrett, Fire Marshal Joe Morelli, and more, attendees engaged in thoughtful small-group discussions that sparked new ideas, built cross-sector connections, and strengthened our collective approach to shared risk. 💡

We were also honored to welcome Congressman George Whitesides, whose attendance underscored the importance of regional collaboration and continued investment in community-led solutions. 🙌

Grateful to all who contributed to such a meaningful day of learning, innovation, and partnership as we work toward a wildfire-smart future. We hope to see you all at our upcoming Wildfire Convention in March! 🏢👏

On Saturday, June 1st, we hosted Zest Fest, our annual orange-picking event at the CSUN Orange Grove. This year marks the 15th anniversary of this wonderful tradition, where the community comes together to pick oranges, fight hunger, and learn about sustainability while enjoying various fun activities.

We were thrilled to welcome over 250 participants this year! Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated volunteers, we harvested an impressive 119 boxes of oranges, totaling 4,760 pounds. All the oranges were distributed to local food banks and the CSUN Food Pantry.
A heartfelt thank you to the CSUN community for making this event a huge success and a shout out to our partners that help us make Zest Fest happen: Food Forward, Black Thumb Farm, Fruitstitute, LA Compost, and 11:11 Projects!
