A good read on the time and financial investment in elevating athletic
performance with an eye towards college scholarship. The article highlights the funds diverted into sport that might otherwise go towards funding college. Two items not addressed: the value of athletics as a pathway to admissions (unrelated to athletic scholarship) and the use of academic merit scholarship as a more sensible tool to reducing college costs.

In the competition for spots at top colleges, many families set their sights on athletic scholarships that earn a place on the team and offer a break on tuition.

Just a clear exploration of college advising used properly and with good intentions. The vast majority of parents and their students recognize the importance of bringing an accurate and honest application to admissions. The growth of college consulting connects to the increasing levels of competition for entry. A nice read.
