"Starting early isn't just about having more time. It's about having the space to find the real story, not the first story." This advice is taken from an article written by college admissions expert Steve Gardner, and I agree. High school juniors-soon-to-be-seniors can get a jump on drafting their college essays as soon as summer begins. The pressure is off (somewhat!), and you'll have plenty of time to consider what you want to write about and how to do so effectively. When the calendar turns to June, pencil in "essay writing." You'll be glad you did when September rolls around.
