Looking for a meaningful way to enrich your family's summer?
Hosting a Japanese exchange student for just four weeks can be an incredible experience for both parents and children. Your family will gain firsthand exposure to another culture, build international friendships, and create memories that last far beyond the summer. For curious, globally minded kids, it's a unique opportunity to learn about life in another country without ever leaving home.
Rachel Brakel, former Hulstrom teacher and current Hulstrom guest teacher, is currently seeking host families for Japanese exchange students from July 11–August 8.
Students will attend English classes Monday through Thursday at Crossroads Church in Thornton, and spend evenings and weekends participating in family life and cultural exchange.
Host families provide:
• A welcoming home
• Meals
• A bed (shared room is often fine)
• Inclusion in normal family activities
If you've ever thought about hosting, this short-term program is a great way to try it. Many host families find the experience rewarding and stay in touch with their students for years.
