The organization provides a realistic and tactical environment to test and develop dedicated individuals to master these fields. The origins of the Norwich University Ranger Company reach far back to the 1950's when it was founded as the Ranger Platoon. The organization's purpose was to further developed Army cadets in leadership skills, Army tactics and doctrine, and in physical fitness. The orga

Since then the small organization grew to a company size unit that works hand in hand with Army ROTC Cadre to keep providing these training opportunities for Army Cadets that desire the additional development. The Company is divided into three sections. The first section is the Ranger Candidates who throughout the year are being trained for the culminating event of Cat Eye Weekend, the second section is the Norwich Ranger Instructors aka. Cat Eyes who take part in the training of the new candidate class and further instructor training. The third and final section is the Challenge Teams who are compiled Cat Eyes and a few other cadets who are in excellent states of fitness in the Army ROTC Department. The company trains regularly twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Squad Styx, patrolling, battle drills, and weapons familiarization are a few things that the company will train on during our two or three hour sessions.
