Our negotiation team has come to a tentative contract agreement with the district. Thank you for all of your love and support throughout this process.

Did you know, Education assistants asked the Northfield School Board members to attend contract negotiations to hear from the lowest paid employees . . . . the school board responded by filing for mediation.
Education assistants have been ready and willing to meet with Northfield School Board members any time.


Our hope is that the school board members will be attending mediation at the district offices today! Please keep our negotiation team in your thoughts today!

More thoughts from a teacher on EAs.

Our EAs work harder than anyone in our building. Their schedules change often due to changes in student needs and case loads. They are expected to be flexible and go with each change with a positive additude. EAs come to work everyday ready to demonstrate kindness, patience, and positivity as they work with some of the most challenging students. The soft skills required for this job cannot be overstated, and not everyone is highly skilled in this area. We need to pay our EAs enough (definitely much more than they are getting now) so we can keep, and hire people with the skills required for this very demanding job!

Some thoughts from a teacher on EAs.

Our educational assistants play a vital and essential role in the daily operations of our school. They are often the first adults to greet many of our students when they enter the building. They are the adults who ensure students get to where they need to be safely. EAs happily offer help with any task , they always do it with a smile and a positive attitude. Most importantly, our educational assistants provide continuous, monumental support to classroom teachers, specialists teachers, and special education staff. EAs care deeply about what they do and have a passion for Education!
