Yesterday, Norwich University welcomed a delegation of five officials from the Republic of Kosovo’s defense and security sector as part of a U.S. State Department program.

Throughout the day, the delegation joined Norwich leaders and faculty for briefings and discussions on hybrid warfare, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and global geopolitics.

Their visit was part of a broader U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program implemented by the Vermont Council on World Affairs bringing the delegation to the United States. Titled “Resilient and Resourceful Defense Capabilities: A Project for Kosovo,” the program examines American education and training for military and defense professionals, along with strategies for recruiting, retaining, and developing government employees.

Through dialogue and the exchange of ideas, the visit reflected Norwich’s leadership in national security and global affairs and the importance of collaboration in addressing today’s most complex challenges. 🌎

☤♡ Future Army Nurses in action! ☤♡

On August 6, CDT Nathaniel Nagel from Norwich University completed the Army Nurse Summer Training Program at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital (BJACH) in Fort Polk, LA. Throughout the month-long program, CDT Nagel and his fellow nursing cadets rotated through clinical departments across the hospital, working alongside nurses, physicians and healthcare professionals while gaining hands-on experience in emergency medicine, labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) care, pharmacy, behavioral health and other specialty areas.

Lt. Col. Carmen Salcedo, assistant deputy commander for nursing at BJACH, said the program prepares cadets for much more than clinical practice.

“In the civilian sector, for most nurses, their primary—and sometimes only—focus is clinical mastery,” Salcedo said during the graduation ceremony. “In the Army, clinical excellence is your baseline. When you commission, you are leaders.”
