Students in the ART240B: Public Art in Public Spaces course created stencil and block prints to raise funds for Northfield families impacted by recent ICE activities. Through a pop-up sale at the Buntrock Commons, the group raised $706 for a local mutual aid fund. Here are some photos of the event and example prints for sale!

Welcome back to campus Oles!! The Art and Art History Department hopes that you all had an amazing J-Term break and are ready to start the spring semester. We would like to formally invite all of you to attend the winter Emerging Artist Reception held at the Northfield Arts Guild this semester. Although the opening reception has already occurred, you are more than welcome to drop in during the Guild’s available hours to see the amazing artworks completed by the EA’s from January 7th to February 12th. We hope you can catch this amazing show!

Happy Reading Day Oles!! Amidst a busy finals week, the Art Department is wishing you all the space for focus and reflection. If you have some spare time, please feel free to walk around and witness our new exhibition found in the Groot Gallery: titled “Sculpting Light,” these works are the final projects of students in Professor Peng Wu’s 3D Foundations course. The exhibition is on display from now until January 15th, visit anytime during open hours!

Thanks to everyone who attended our Emerging Artist Reception last Friday!! Our EA’s were able to describe the process of making their works so far and what they plan on creating in the future. If you missed the reception, this exhibit will be on display in the Groot Gallery until December 2nd, so please come on down to CAD and see some amazing artwork!

Calling all art enthusiasts! Our 2025-2026 Emerging Artists will have their first show, Work In Progress, installed in the Groot Gallery on November 12th and lasting until December 2nd. We will have an Opening Reception where these artists will discuss the development of their works so far on Friday, November 14th, from 4-6PM. We hope to see you all there!

Thanks to everyone who attended our Arty Party on Monday!! The Art and Art History Department kicked off the fall semester by having students create prints and craft bead designs while enjoying some delicious snacks and drinks. The Emerging Artists and Professors in each Department also gave introductions and a drawing for free art supplies! Thanks to all who attended, we hope to see you next year!

A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who attended the Opening Reception of our Senior Art Show this past weekend!!
Thanks to everyone who came to visit and support our fellow Seniors, and thanks to the Seniors for creating such incredible pieces of art! You all should be immensely proud at your accomplishments.
If you missed the reception and haven’t seen the show already, the Senior Art Show will be displayed in CAD until May 24th. You don’t want to miss it!

You’re warmly invited to On Our Minds, a public art exhibition featuring the powerful work of student artists from ART 240B: Art in Public Space. These projects were inspired by the Honest Storytelling Project and its scholarly writings on untold and marginalized histories of our campus and community.

Through artistic research and collaboration, students proposed and realized site-specific public artworks that exercise freedom of expression and amplify their voices in our shared campus spaces.

This event is a unique opportunity to experience public art activated by participating student artists. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. Don’t miss the chance to participate in the art piece “Panty Picnic” hosted by the artist!

Our Emerging Artists have been hard at work for their final projects of the program! Come celebrate the Opening Reception of their Exhibition, "At Play," on May 3rd in the Q. Arma Gallery in Minneapolis from 6-8PM.
Transportation will be provided to all interested students to the Opening Reception of the Gallery, so please check your inbox and fill out the form by April 28th!
