Meadowbrook School

Meadowbrook School Meadowbrook School is one of three elementary schools in Northbrook School District 28. We serve approximately 460 students in grades K-5.

Our mascot is the Huskies! Welcome to Meadowbrook! Welcome to Meadowbrook School, a kindergarten-grade 5 school of approximately 365 students located in Northbrook SD 28. Meadowbrook’s staff is committed to working with parents and students collaboratively to best meet the needs of our students. Our students are involved in reading and writing workshops daily, as part of a comprehensive literacy m

odel. In addition, students participate in math and science or social studies classes each day. We provide innovative instruction that engages students in thinking critically about their reading, writing and problem solving. We are looking forward to our second year of Extended Day Kindergarten at Meadowbrook. This program offers kindergarten students the opportunity to spend the entire school day at Meadowbrook. Also, this is the second year kindergarten students will participate in art, music and physical education classes weekly for the entire school year. In addition to our core academic programs, we offer a Blue Ribbon award-winning daily physical education program that is health-based, as well as weekly lessons in music, art, technology, science lab, library and our social-emotional literacy program, Leader in Me. Our program is comprehensive and focused on developing the whole child. In an effort to help all students reach their full potential, we have a large and diverse staff dedicated to meeting their needs. Our staff at Meadowbrook uses Love and Logic strategies to create a positive learning environment for students. Love and Logic allows students to grow through their mistakes. It also allows them to learn from the consequences of their choices. In addition to excellent classroom teachers, we have a talented staff that includes multiple learning resource teachers and reading specialists, a social worker, a school psychologist, an ELL teacher, an EXCEL coordinator, a math interventionist, speech and language pathologists and a technology integration specialist. An instructional assistant is also assigned to each classroom to support students in the classroom and lunchroom, as well as on the playground. At Meadowbrook, we utilize a Response to Intervention framework so that all students receive high quality support matched to individual needs and goals. Individual progress is monitored frequently to insure that instruction is having the desired effect. We also host a special education early childhood program that includes students of all abilities on the learning spectrum. We are fortunate to enjoy tremendous support from our parents and community. Our Parent Teacher Organization is an active group throughout the building that provides enrichment opportunities for our students and their parents. Detailed information about our PTO can be found via the link on this page. Meadowbrook is a positive learning community where everyone is committed to working together for the success of all students. We are extremely proud of our school and know you’ll be impressed by what you experience. If you have any questions or would like to contact me, please email me at [email protected] .
