Countryside Day School

Countryside Day School At Countryside Day School, we place equal value on the development of character and the acquisition of academic knowledge.

We help students achieve their academic potential while instilling qualities of respect, responsibility and resourcefulness. Countryside has been providing an exceptional learning environment for children in preschool through 8th grade for over 50 years. Our classes are multi-age, in keeping with the Montessori practice. The mixed age groups provide for peer teaching, role models and leadership ex

perience; they also enhance the sense of community within the classroom. Since a successful Montessori environment depends so greatly on children having focused periods of time in which to complete tasks and activities, we make a priority of maximizing uninterrupted work time. Above all, we place the highest importance on serving the needs of the child, for as Maria Montessori said, "One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child itself." Everything in the classroom is designed to meet the developmental needs and interests of the children. There is no ceiling to what children can learn, and they are able to advance through the curriculum as they are ready, without being limited by the progress of their peers. Countryside's traditional materials have been researched and developed during decades of classroom use. Our teachers take great care in preparing the environment so that materials are arranged sequentially, children have comfortable work space and there is freedom of physical movement.

And just like that…Summer Camp 2026 is a wrap! ☀️
Thank you to all of our Countryside campers for spending part of your summer with us. We loved every adventure, project, splash, laugh, and memory made along the way!
And a BIG thank you to our incredible teachers who gave their time, energy, and creativity to make these summer months so much fun. ❤️

This week, our MCM 0–3 AMI Diploma cohort is in the final stretch, preparing for exams next week!
Months of study, observation, material making, album writing, and countless hours of practice have led to this moment. We know how much work has gone into this journey, and we couldn’t be prouder of each of these dedicated adult learners.
We’re wishing them the very best next week, but more than that, we have complete confidence in them. They’ve put in the work, supported one another, and grown tremendously along the way.
Good luck, everyone. You’ve got this! 💙

Today was one of those days that reminds us why this work matters. ❤️ Our Montessori Center of Minnesota 3–6 Diploma Course graduation was filled with joy, pride, and more than a few tears!

Looking around the room, you could see the transformation that has taken place over the past two years. These aren't just graduates who completed a course. They are newly trained Montessori guides who have grown in confidence, deepened their understanding of the child, and embraced the responsibility of this work with open hearts.

The love in the room was unmistakable. Families came to celebrate, trainers reflected on the graduates' journey, and every hug, smile, and tear spoke to the dedication it took to reach this moment.

Congratulations to each of our graduates. It has been an honor to host this journey at Countryside Day School, and we can't wait to see the lives and classrooms you will touch in the years ahead.

After months of hard work, preparation, and dedication, this incredible Montessori Center of Minnesota cohort has completed their AMI 3–6 diploma exams today. Tomorrow we get to celebrate them at graduation!!!

We're so grateful to host MCM's amazing trainers, Lakshmi and Sharlyn, here at Countryside once again. And what a treat it was to have Gretchen and Kimberly join us this week as examiners.

We look forward to continuing to bring AMI blended training to Illinois through our partnership with MCM for years to come.

Congratulations to this wonderful group!! We can't wait to celebrate with you tomorrow!

Such a lovely evening at North Lodge with our 2026–2027 Parent Volunteer Council and Room Parents.
We gathered to review the year ahead, talk through responsibilities and events, (eat cake!) and connect as a team before the school year begins.
Our community is made stronger by parents who generously give their time and talents, and we are so grateful for each of them!

Something is inspiring about watching adults become students again!

This summer, our campus has been filled with dedicated adult learners from both the 0–3 and 3–6 AMI Diploma Courses through the Montessori Center of Minnesota. They've spent weeks studying child development, practicing with the Montessori materials, refining presentations, observing, collaborating, and preparing for their examinations. It's demanding work and deeply rewarding.

One of the things we especially appreciate about these programs is their blended format, which makes it possible for adult learners to continue working, care for their families, and live their lives while pursuing internationally recognized AMI training.

At Countryside Day School, we're proud to partner with MCM to host these internationally recognized Association Montessori International of the United States (AMI/USA) training programs, and we're already looking ahead to welcoming future cohorts next summer!

If you've ever considered becoming an AMI-trained Montessori guide for children ages 0–3 or 3–6, we'd love to talk with you. Many schools sponsor their teachers' training because they know the investment benefits not only the educator but also generations of children to come.

Perhaps your school will be the one that helps make it possible!

Reach out to MCM (or PM us!) to learn more about joining MCM at Countryside next summer. We can't wait to welcome the next generation of Montessori educators!
