GBN 83 Alumni & Friends-
On Friday, May 22nd our classmate Commander Vic (Kent) Weber, will be honored as this year’s Glenbrook North Distinguished Alumni.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Vic was commissioned in the US Navy and where he started flight school. His squadron commander recognized his exceptional skills and recommended Vic for Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN).
Vic excelled as a TOPGUN fighter pilot and continued his Navy career as an instructor and educator at Navy Fighter Weapons School.
In 1998 Vic returned to the fleet after TOPGUN and did a tour of duty as a fighter pilot on the USS Carl Vinson. In 2000 he left the active Navy and began a civilian career as a pilot for United Airlines.
His career at United was cut short by 9/11. The day after the 9/11 attack, Vic requested to return to active duty with the US Navy. After flying combat missions with the Navy, Vic returned to TOPGUN where he was appointed head of the program as Director of Flight Operations.
After 19 years flying multiple aircraft, with over 750 landings on 10 different aircraft carriers, Commander Vic retired to Idaho with his family.
On Friday, May 22nd a group of us from GBN83 will be attending the awards ceremony at GBN to support Vic. The awards ceremony begins at 2:30pm in the Sheely Center for the Performing Arts (CPA). Ceremony is open to the public, dress code is business casual, no jeans or shorts.
