Fitzgerald Community School

Fitzgerald Community School Fitzgerald Community School offers a nature based, personalized education with hands on, real life application.

Serving grades Preschool- Grade 8, we are conveniently located in Northborough, MA. Why choose between a play-based model and traditional learning model, when your child can have both? At Fitzgerald Community School, your child will get the best of both worlds with a nature-based K-5 education that combines child-centered learning and curriculum benchmarks. We’ve spent years perfecting a blend of

free play, project based learning, and foundational learning to give your child a personalized educational experience that’s designed to let everyone flourish. Our teachers are specially trained to create a personalized learning plan for each student to meet them exactly where they are at. While traditional schools emphasize a model filled with desks and electronics, our nature-based education is designed to stimulate all the senses and activate both the body and the mind. Your child will spend an average of 3 hours a day outside, playing and learning in fresh air. Our indoor classrooms are filled with active seating and sensory-rich natural materials such as wooden toys, and calming colors that nurtures every child’s mind, body and spirit. Our smaller class size ratio of 1-8 students give your child the freedom to explore in a way that naturally complements their individual learning style. The mixed-age groups foster the development of social skills and leadership in a safe environment. Your child can follow their curiosity and cultivate their creativity, while still learning a similar curriculum as the public school system, to become well-rounded and confident students that are fully prepared when they transition to middle school. We use a benchmark system that is far more effective than homework and testing, but still champions an educational foundation that will serve them for the rest of their lives. Join our community of supportive, accepting, and encouraging families that celebrates the unique personalities and needs of each child. In our friendly private Facebook group, parents can coordinate playdates, carpools, and more. We love our Fitz families and can’t wait to meet your child.

Still considering a different educational path for your child this fall?

We have just a few remaining openings for the 2026–2027 school year:

At Fitzgerald Community School, we believe children learn best when learning is meaningful, engaging, and connected to the real world. Our multi-age classrooms, nature-based experiences, project-based learning, and personalized approach help learners build confidence, curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

You’ll find children exploring forests, creating meaningful projects, building strong relationships, developing social-emotional skills, and mastering academics through authentic, hands-on experiences—all while meeting Massachusetts learning standards.

If you’re looking for something different—an education that nurtures the whole child while preparing them for the future—we’d love to connect and share more about our community.

Reach out to schedule a tour or ask any questions. We’d love to meet your family! 💚

Some dreams take years of planning, saving, and believing. Recently, one of those dreams became a reality.

After many years of fundraising, we’re beyond excited to officially have our very own FCS school van! 🚐

This isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a passport to more adventures, more hands-on learning, and more opportunities for our learners to explore the world beyond our classroom walls. From nature preserves and museums to community partners and service projects, this van will help us bring our mission of real-world, nature-based learning to life in even bigger ways.

Reaching a long-standing goal like this is incredibly rewarding, and we’re so grateful to every family, donor, and supporter who helped make it possible. ❤️

One dream accomplished… now it’s time to chase the next one. 💪🏼
