We were excited to continue our work with the North American Orchid Conservation Center last week by visiting a lovely local population of ladies' tresses (Spiranthes cernua). Current and former AEMES scholars Adria Poindexter `29 and Adline Dely `27J joined Director John Berryhill to collect DNA samples and roots that contain the essential fungal partner this species needs to thrive.

Some of the houses in Lyman are undergoing a deep clean, which means that everything has to be moved out to power wash the surfaces - including the frogs in the pond in Stove House. But worry not, they will be returned to their watery home as soon as the pond can be refilled with water.

The effort is well worth it, as can be seen in Warm Temp with the light shining through so nicely. The plants (and visitors) benefit greatly.
