The latest from Fernanda and Fabio...New Yorkers take note!

Regional Samaúma is pleased to announce the second session of the 2026 Guided Roda de Choro in New York City! This course offers a unique immersion into the language of choro, building repertoire and ensemble practice while strengthening the community around this vibrant musical tradition. There will be 8 sessions in total. We have extended the class duration to 1 hour and 30 minutes, allowing more time to play together and deepen the learning experience.

PEARL STUDIOS NYC – 500 8th Avenue – 12th floor, Room 1202 – New York, NY 10018

🗓 Schedule: Saturdays, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
📅 Dates: May 2 – June 27, 2026 (8 weeks)

Our instructors – Fernanda Silveira (cavaquinho), Fabio Oliveira (percussion), and Gabriele Leite (guitar) – will guide participants through:

Essential choro rhythms (polca, lundu, maxixe, choro, choro-sambado, choro-canção, schottisch, and more)
The nuances of Roda de Choro playing

Heads up! The Early Bird registration period for Choro Camp New England ends in just one week, on the last day of this month. As of May 1st, the cost of tuition will go up by $40. We already have 50 registrants, including people in all our Instrumental Groups: guitar, bandolim, winds, cavaquinho, bowed strings, accordion/keyboards, pandeiro and vocals.

If you plan to join us, let us know now! It helps in our planning and it saves you money. Win-win. :)
