I am so proud of this young lady! This is my violin student, Paige, who is ten years old. She's a beginner who started just three months ago, and she is learning to tap her foot while she plays! After just a few weeks, she is doing incredibly well at it. I'm happy that her hard work is paying off so quickly!

This past Thursday was a big day for my student, Mariana, because she got her full-size cello that day! She's 11 years old and was playing on a half-size, so this is a huge change for her. She definitely likes the bigger sound, but it's going to take some adjustments and time to get used to playing this larger instrument. Thankfully, she practices regularly, so she should adapt quickly! Congratulations, Mariana!!

I had to say farewell to another great student this week! This is Zahara, and she's been taking viola lessons with me for seven years. She'll be graduating from Gateway high school in a few days, and in the Fall, she will be attending Kent State to study architecture. I will miss her, but I wish her much success!!

Another bittersweet farewell happened this past week as my awesome cello student, Allison, took my advice and moved on to a new teacher. Allison loves to be challenged and would often find and bring very difficult music to her lesson. She also has a great sense of humor, so it wasn't unusual for us to fall into fits of laughter during her lessons! I'm going to miss that, and I wish her nothing but the best as she continues her cello studies with her new teacher!

Today was a bittersweet day, as it was Dylan's last cello lesson with me. He's an excellent student who works hard, and he's ready for a teacher who can take him farther than I can. As much as I loved having him as a student, I pushed for him to move on because I want to see him reach his full potential. He will now be studying with a professional cellist from the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, and I can't wait to see what he will accomplish!

Can you do this with your bowing hand? Try it! You may need to support the bow on your instrument at first instead of just holding it in the air.

My students gave a lovely performance at the McKeesport Festival of Trees on Sunday, December 6th! We always enjoy playing there, in a room decorated with close to 100 Christmas trees, every one of them so unique and different.
