Founded in 2014 by Amy Rood Miller, Creative Music Lessons is an organization of private music instructors who are committed to the idea that music lessons should be something a student LOOKS FORWARD TO! By combining an adaptive and interactive teaching style coupled with an emphasis on the learning of proper technique, Creative Music Lessons helps students grow their skills, achieve th

eir musical goals, and makes music a fun and exciting experience. Whether you think of music as a hobby, or are aspiring to a life on the stage… utilizing our unique approach, we strive to meet our students where they are and help them get to where they want to go! Music lessons can now be both fun AND productive! Founder Amy Rood Miller has been teaching music privately for the past 18 years and combines both the soft skills of a Music Therapist, with the technical aptitude of a classically-trained performer. She earned her Bachelor’s in Music Therapy from Shenandoah Conservatory and has worked in a variety of settings including preschools, children with autism, hospice care, and children with cancer and blood disorders. Amy also achieved a Master’s in Vocal Performance during her time at Shenandoah, and has sung at numerous renowned venues throughout the U.S. and abroad, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Notre Dame Cathedral. The beauty of our approach lies in its simplicity… By teaching a multitude of musical styles and genres, we find a way to make lessons fun! Teachers will work with the students/parents to put together a realistic educational strategy that will best address their needs and musical goals. Beyond the development of basic technique and the use of student-preferred music, other activities include, but are not limited to… sight-reading, music theory concepts, song writing, audio/video recordings, musical games, and improvisation. Instruments taught: Piano, Voice, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Flute, Trombone, Ukulele, and Mandolin.

We wanted to shine the spotlight on one awesome guitar and piano teacher for in-home lessons, George Nazos.

George brings 25 years of experience teaching and has helped students of all levels and ages to achieve their goals. George brings a fun/encouraging vibe to his lessons and teaches all styles of guitar, as well as electric bass, oud, ukulele, and piano.

He is aware that every student learns differently, so he makes sure to always adapt lessons to accommodate their pace, interests, and personality.

Originally hailing from Greece, George has performed all over the world and is on-stage regularly at A-list venues in NYC such as Blue Note, the Appel Room at Lincoln Center, the Mezzrow Jazz Club, the Jazz Forum, The 55 Bar, and many others!

My oh my, what an amazing voice coach and singing teacher Orgena is! She has performed all over the world and still brings a dynamic, nurturing, and encouraging vibe to her lessons... no matter the student's age or ability.

We are excited to shine the spotlight on another amazing music teacher this week!

Hadley Lloyd is a passionate music educator who teaches drums, guitar, ukulele, piano, percussion, music theory and early childhood music. She excels at teaching students of all age ranges and skill levels, and brings a fun, energetic, and easy-going vibe to her in home lessons.

Outside of her teaching, Hadley is also an accomplished drummer and percussionist, performing with various rock, jazz, funk and Americana bands across the Northeast!

In these stressful times, music can and should be an amazingly healthy outlet, not to mention therapeutic! We are SO honored to be working with some amazing music teachers that also come from a background in music therapy.

A music therapist’s whole aim is to meet a student where they are and adapt to what they’re giving them. They take into account each students goals are and then customize their approach accordingly to help them find progress and success! These skills apply to students of all ages and skill levels, including the very young beginners just getting into music.

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on one of our very special music therapist teachers, Jin. She has such a warm, upbeat, positive, and playful vibe, that her students find a way to have a good time no matter what’s going on in the outside world!
