One more on the Fall Roundup before we talk about our meeting on the 21st at the museum featuring the Main Drag (next post). These are from 2003, when the Fall Roundup still had a Western theme and encompassed more events than just the parade.

The Fall Roundup Parade (Sept 17) is a BIG EVENT! But a few other things were done in connection with this event in the past. Sharing a few pics from a time when horses and physical encounters (and wheelbarrows) were more likely! We don't have an exact year on these, so if you can help with that, please do.

Part of this summer's celebration was to honor the people who have put time, energy and resources into keeping and organizing and explaining the history of North St. Paul over the past 50 years. Our museum display will be up through September if you want to come look, and new volunteers are always welcome!

Just one more - thanks to Ava from the city who pulled all this together and produced a couple of great videos that will go into our archive.
As part of the work of "recreating" the paper which had been destroyed, we were able to get a copy of the original petition forming the "Village of North St. Paul" in 1887 and provided that to the city offices, which had been unable to locate that document for us. That is also currently on display at the museum, along with the other time capsule items. Come visit Friday 1-4 or Saturday 10-1.

Will share a few more photos from our time capsule event. Still looking for ideas for the empty capsule and etched stone. Capsule contents are at our museum if you haven't yet seen them. Thanks to all who came!

What a fun party we had last week - I think those who put the Time Capsule in the ground would have been pleased to see how we celebrated, even though things did not turn out as they had planned.
The materials have now all been moved to the NSP History museum, which is open 1-4 pm on Fridays and 10-1 on Saturdays. They will be on display the rest of the summer.
For now the actual time capsule and stone marker are still at the scout museum - we welcome ideas and offers to assist with what happens next to them!

Tomorrow is the party (5-9 pm)!
If you want to see what we did with the soggy, dirty mess we pulled out of the 1976 leaky time capsule, the Northstar Museum will have 5 tables of cleaned up and reproduced/duplicate paper pieces for you to peruse.
Across the street at the North St. Paul museum is a display for the 50th anniversary of the Historical Society, and between the buildings will be music, food trucks, a 70's costume contest and dancing, so bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy!

This morning's adventure was the pulling of the 1976 Time Capsule, thanks to the diligent work of the North St. Paul public works department. We were relieved to see that it was buried where we expected under the plaque; disappointed to realize the entire thing was filled with water; encouraged when we saw all the plastic wrapped bundles inside. Then we started taking them apart, and virtually none of the paper was salvageable. There were some non-paper items, however, and we have a list of what was supposedly inside, so we will replace what we can and have things for you to see in the North Star museum on the 25th. Such is the reality of Time Capsules!
