’Twas the Night Before Breakfast
North Ridgeville City Schools — Ranger STRONG
’Twas the night before breakfast throughout NRCS,
Not a tray was out ready, not a carton, no mess.
The aprons were hung in the kitchens with care,
In hopes that fresh breakfasts soon would be there.
The students were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of cinnamon rolls danced in their heads.
And teachers in pajamas and principals too,
Had settled in dreaming of a school day anew.
Then out in the hallway there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the kitchen to see what was the matter.
Away to the doorway I flew in a dash,
Past coolers and ovens and the dishwashing splash.
The moon through the windows cast a silvery glow,
On the gleaming cafeteria all quiet below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But the NRCS Ranger, spreading breakfast-time cheer!
So lively and quick, with a smile big and bright,
He came to make sure every breakfast was right.
He carried a clipboard and gave a big grin,
As he called, “Rangers, tomorrow’s a great day to begin!”
He started at ECLC, checking each tray,
Then stopped by Liberty to brighten the day.
To Ranger High-Tech Academy he hurried with cheer,
Making sure everything needed was ready and near.
Then on to North Ridgeville Academic Center he flew,
Checking the fruit, milk, and breakfast supplies too.
At North Ridgeville High School he zipped down the hall,
Making sure breakfast was ready for one and for all.
He stocked up the fruit bins with apples so bright,
And lined up cold milk cartons perfectly right.
The food service team arrived, ready for fun,
Preparing for morning before daybreak had come.
They sliced fresh strawberries and baked biscuits with care,
Filling the kitchens with aromas everywhere.
The Ranger called out, “Let’s make it our best!
A healthy breakfast helps Rangers succeed on each test!”
“A smile and a greeting, a warm ‘Good Morning!’ too,
Can make a big difference in all that we do.”
They whisked and they mixed till the work was all done,
Then polished the counters till they sparkled like sun.
The cafeterias gleamed from the floor to the ceiling,
Filled with teamwork, nutrition, and that Ranger STRONG feeling.
As dawn slowly approached and the stars slipped away,
The teams stood together to welcome the day.
The buses rolled in and the students came through,
Ready for breakfast at North Ridgeville City Schools.
The Ranger gave a wink as he slipped out of sight,
His breakfast-time mission completed just right.
But his voice could be heard as he headed along:
“Have a great day, Rangers — and stay RANGER STRONG!”
The food service teams smiled as the students came through,
Proud to serve our NRCS Rangers in all that they do.
Let’s start this school year RANGER STRONG!
Thank you to our amazing Food Service Team for all you do for our students every day!
