In Montessori, even grinding coffee beans has a purpose! ☕️

This Practical Life activity strengthens hand-eye coordination, concentration, independence, and the ability to follow a sequence. Children engage their senses as they hear the beans crunch, smell the fresh aroma, and watch whole beans transform into coffee grounds.

Most importantly, they complete meaningful, real-world work that builds confidence and allows them to contribute to their classroom community.

Little hands doing purposeful work! 🤎

Today, we honor the birthday of Dr. Maria Montessori, a physician, educator, and visionary whose work transformed education around the world.

The Montessori philosophy recognizes that every child is naturally curious and capable. Through hands-on learning, purposeful work, freedom within limits, and a carefully prepared environment, children develop independence, confidence, concentration, and a lifelong love of learning.

Dr. Montessori’s influence continues to remind us that education is not simply about filling a child with information—it is about nurturing the whole child and helping each one reach their fullest potential.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Maria Montessori! Your legacy continues to inspire children, families, and educators around the world. 🌿

A child who chooses their own work and completes it without interruption experiences a profound, quiet joy—a natural byproduct of independent mastery and self-discovery.

The primary purpose of the knobbed cylinders in Montessori education is to refine a child’s visual and tactile discrimination of size, dimension (height and diameter), and volume. This classic sensorial material also builds the physical foundation for handwriting, mathematical thinking, and independent problem-solving.

Understanding every material in a Montessori environment has a purpose and it’s all educational. Each material in a Montessori environment is thoughtfully placed and prepared for the child to engage and interact with .

In Montessori education, learning how to roll a rug teaches a child large and small muscle control, independence, and spatial awareness. It helps them care for their environment and build deep focus through precise, step-by-step physical movement.

Today some of our friends were introduced to a sorting work, blindfolded! Why blindfolded you may ask, the blindfold isolates the sense being trained. Instead of allowing the eyes to immediately tell the child, “this is rice” or “this is a bean,” the child must gather information through the fingers and hands—shape, size, texture, contour, and dimension—and form a mental image.

While the blindfold is fun, the blindfold isn’t the lesson; it removes one source of information so another sense can become more conscious and refined.

The beauty of a Montessori education!

Independent eating helps infants and young toddlers build strong motor skills, learn to self-regulate their food intake, and explore new textures and flavors with confidence. This practice supports healthy development and encourages a positive, stress-free relationship with food from an early age.

We are so excited to welcome our CMA Families back to school for our Fall term! We had a few days off to reset, clean, worship as a team, as well as have a staff fun day! Our students were so excited to be back with their friends and begin working again! We have a few spaces left in our Toddler and Primary class and 1 space opening for our Nido class (infant) in early September!

Today’s is this baby’s first day! We have carefully prepared our Nido environment, where babies can feel safe, comfortable, loved and cared for …. And then they nap like a champ (the dim lights and soft music helps too😉)

We had the honor of serving this family with big sister when she started at just a few months old and now that brother is here, sister is in Toddler class learning new skills!

This week we closed the school for our annual teacher prep week! We spent the week deep cleaning the school, resetting the materials, preparing our 2nd toddler class, which will open Monday, doing team building activities and then yesterday we went and just had a FUN day!

“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing”

We had such a great time laughing as a team, facing our fears, and encouraging each other to do hard things! We had a few members of the team that weren’t able to make it, but the ones that did had a blast!

We look forward to welcoming our families back on Monday!
