Smithfield Middle School Band

On Saturday, SMS Band members participated in the BISD Solo Contest. Congratulations to the following students for earning the distinction of Outstanding Soloist!!!

Last week the Symphonic and Honors Band performed at the PEAK Music Festival at the Irving Arts Center!

Each band had great performances and earned the following awards from the judges-

Symphonic Band
Division 1 Ratings
2C Non-Varsity Best in Class
Outstanding Sections: Clarinet, French Horn, Percussion

Honors Band
Division 1 Ratings
2C Varsity Best in Class
Outstanding Group of the Day (ALL Groups, MS and HS)
Outstanding Sections: Clarinet, French Horn

Congratulations to both bands for a great end to concert/contest season!!

Another successful week for the Smithfield Bands!

Last week all 4 ensembles performed at the North Texas Festival of Distinction at Haltom HS and ALL groups earned superior ratings from each judge!

Additionally, the Honors, Symphonic and Concert Bands earned runner up awards in their class!

Honors Band - 5th runner-up (2C Varsity INV, 21 bands)
Symphonic Band - 5th runner-up (2C NV INV, 16 bands)
Concert Band - 1st runner-up (2C SNV)
Beginning Band - Superior Ratings

Historic last couple of days for Smithfield Bands!

The last 2 days, the Concert, Symphonic and Honors bands performed at UIL Concert & Sight Reading. All 3 bands received superior ratings (division 1s) from ALL 6 judges!!! This is the first time in school history that SMS has taken a 3rd band to UIL C&SR. Smithfield was also the only school to have 3 bands earn all superior ratings.

We are so proud of the hard work put in by the students preparing for this event! (Special shoutout to our student teacher Mr. Blankenship for making his UIL conducting debut with the Concert Band!)

Another shoutout to for their fantastic performances with the Symphonic and Honors percussion ensembles at the TCU Percussion Festival!!

Extra congrats to the Symphonic Band Ensemble for placing 3rd in their category!!!

Huge Congratulations to for their invite to perform at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, IL this December!!!
