As the new school year approaches, the North Providence Police Department is dedicated to keeping our students and community safe.

In anticipation of the increased pedestrian traffic, our officers will be conducting directed crosswalk safety enforcement throughout the town.

Please take a moment to review these essential safety tips for both drivers and pedestrians.

Join us at this year’s North Providence Fall Festival on Sunday, September 20th from 12:00-6:00 pm at Governor Notte Park. Whelan will be a participating school and a portion of the proceeds will be benefiting our students.

🎓 Today we celebrate our amazing 5th Grade Class of 2026! 🎓

A huge thank you to Walmart for the donation of cupcakes and to Alicia and Naveen for donating Ring Pops to help make this day extra special for our graduates.

Congratulations to all of our fifth graders! We are so proud of everything you have accomplished during your time at Whelan. As you begin your next chapter at Birchwood Middle School, we wish you success, happiness, and many wonderful memories ahead.

What an incredible evening!

It was so wonderful to see former students, staff, families, and community members come together for our Farewell to Whelan. This building has been home to generations of memories, friendships, milestones, and traditions that will never be forgotten.

From the Woodward Road School ➜ Whelan J.A.W.S. ➜ Whelan Cougars, this school has meant so much to so many over the years.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared stories, signed the walls, and helped make tonight such a special and memorable event. While the building may be gone, the memories and the Whelan spirit will live on forever. 💙💛
