I recently interviewed for a position out of state. The young lady I spoke with stated she did not understand the teacher shortage as it relates to Special Education teachers. I told her that special education teachers are under appreciated, underpaid and quite frankly more educated. Special Education teachers are leaving the profession for these reasons and more. I may be one of them. My doctorate allows me to do so many things as a result I do not need to teach but I can and will develop a curriculum that will help all students with delays in any area to learn. I will be finishing my website this week and will look forward to hearing from parents.
