Early Development Network - North Platte The Early Childhood Special Education Program works with children age birth-5 years old who have developmental delays or disabilities. Learning begins at home.

The Early Childhood Special Education Program works with children age birth-5 years old who have developmental delay's or disabilities. Our dedicated team of teachers and professionals provide support to families and community partners so that all children have the same learning opportunities. Free developmental screenings and/or evaluations are offered to all children birth-5 years old with parent consent. We believe parents are a child's first, best and most influential teacher.

Co-regulation is not about removing boundaries, ignoring behaviour or giving in to avoid distress.

It is about helping a child’s nervous system return to a place where they can think, communicate and learn.

Children develop self-regulation gradually through repeated experiences of being supported by regulated adults. Sometimes that means staying close and calm. Sometimes it means reducing demands, giving space or simply being a steady presence while the storm passes.

Connection and boundaries can exist together.

Co-regulation is not the absence of teaching. It helps create the conditions in which teaching can actually happen.
