Take a moment and remember those who sacrificed their life for our country.

Last Saturday, 4/18, Our Hall of Fame ceremony went flawlessly and over 180 people enjoyed the acceptance speeches of Bill Eville, Tony Zampella, Van Dickerson, the family of Alan Beckenstein, Garry Apgar, Anthony Krizan, Dr Marilyn Birnbaum and Steve Miller. Karl Gordon and Bob Lake were the coaches of the 1996 State Championship Canuck Baseball team, they spoke along with Captain Mike Passe. It was a wonderful event. My thanks to our Comittee members for their time and dedication. Brian Ivory, Karina Boto, Bob Lake, Amy Six, Bob Kirchberger along with our treasurer, Mike Mandaglio and event coordinator Roger Graubard whose efforts are monumental! Thank you! Many thanks to Moureen Conroy Wenik, she handles all our internet presence and now is busy creating the excellent videos on YouTube showcasing each inductee. Hall of Fame Inductee, Dr. Alan Beckenstein - NPHS Class of 1964.

NPHS Alumni Association Alan Beckenstein 2026 HOF Inductee

Dr. Alan Beckenstein was inducted into the North Plainfield High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame on April 18, 2026. He passed away in July 2025, and was inducted postmortem.

A 1964 graduate of North Plainfield High School, Dr. Beckenstein attended Lafayette College earning a degree in Economics (with honors).
Then it was on to the University of Michigan earning his Masters in economics in 1969, followed by his PH.D. in economics in 1972.

Dr. Beckenstein, was recruited by the University of Virginia in 1972, and continued his tenure until his passing in July of 2025.

Over the last 52 years, in his roles within the Darden School at the University of Virginia, Dr. Beckenstein had distinguished himself in a number of areas which included; Global Economies & Markets; Antitrust and Competition Policy; International Economics; U.S. Economy and Asia-Pacific Economies.
Dr. Beckenstein had also consulted extensively at the Federal Government level and spent a number of years consulting and teaching economics in New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific.

Congratulations to soon to be HOF Inductee, Anthony Zampella! His ongoing work with the NP Exempt Fireman's Museum is commendable! We look forward the HOF induction ceremony this Saturday, April 18.

The North Plainfield Exempt Firemen’s Museum, North Plainfield was awarded $3,500.00 to assist with core operations, as well as support community engagement efforts and educational public programming.
