Here is a hands-free kickball game that I have created. There are a few other hands-free kickball game ideas I'll be sharing as well. Understanding some states and/or districts may have varying restrictions/guidelines, I just want to mention what ours are, or at least the ones that most impact PE:
-No sharing equipment (this mainly applies to handling the same equipment - e.g., passing a basketball back and forth using a chest pass)
-We can reuse equipment from class to class if it's sanitized between uses. An example of how that looks in my class is our frisbee golf discs. I have more than enough for an entire class, and maybe even enough for two classes if they are small enough, but that is it, so after each class I take those discs and sanitize them. Being how frisbee golf involves only one player handling their own disc(s), this is a doable activity so long as that sanitization between uses (class to class) takes place.
-Just like how we aren't able to pass a ball back and forth, we have a similar restriction with the gym floor surface. If I have a certain spot in the gym, say in a squad, and then I do push-ups in that spot, nobody else can come in during a later class and do push-ups in that same spot, because the first person has potentially contaminated that area, so to navigate that, I use what I call "lanes." We have enough lines on our gym floor that I can great around 12 lanes. Going from one side of the gym to the other, I number the lanes 1 through 12. I have 3 classes in this particular building, so the first class gets lane 1, 4, 7, and 10. The next class gets 2, 5, 8, and 11, and then the final class gets lanes 3, 6, 9, and 12. Doing it this was assures no 2 students are contact the same spot on the floor in a given day, allowing me to have students on the gym floor doing exercises and yoga that involve as much. The gym floor is cleaned nighly.
-Social distance needs to be maintained whenever possible. The biggest struggle with this is during mileage club, which is a time when students are running the perimeter of our blacktop area. It's not that the activity requires them to be within six feet, but they just gravitate that way. Most activities I've created do a very good job adhering to social distancing guidelines.
