Electrical Diagnostics is my weakness. This was a pretty good experience for me working through a bunch of different issues. Each time I'm getting a little bit better at it.

For the longest time I just saw the dirt in front of me and grabbed another gear. It wasn't until recent years where I started paying a little closer attention to where I was actually riding. I have to say this is one of my favorite things to learn about now and it improves my riding experience. Overall I've gained a much greater appreciation for public lands and what they continue to offer me in my life.

What if you could time travel 100 years ago and tell the people working the mountains during the gold rush that in the future we would be racing our dirt bikes on those same routes? They would definitely look at you like you're crazy. Sometimes I think about what it would be like to spend a day in their shoes. I'm grateful I was born when and where I was because wow what a time to be alive!

I am no expert when it comes to this stuff. I'm self taught, I started learning how to work on dirt bikes from my dad. I grew up riding and racing and learning how to do most of my own maintenance. In recent years I have grown more passionate about engine work and learning how each components works together. I definitely have been messing up a lot of stuff lately but I'm trying my best to learn and I hope the lessons stick!

This particular area of the mountains has seriously created some of my favorite riding memories. The past two years have been such a special experience to race these same trails again! Huge thanks to DF Development and their willingness to let us ride our dirt bikes here. I hope we can continue to enjoy these mountains in the future.

I want to hear your thoughts. What’s your definition of Hard Enduro?

Can Hard Enduro include designated trails or is it strictly new routes and virgin terrain?

Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love Hard Enduro and I have found a lot of enjoyment in riding more challenging terrain the last few years. I also believe that this explosion of interest in Hard Enduro over the last decade is a really good thing for our off-road industry, However it does bring with it a few unique challenges that I feel if left unattended could cause some serious issues in the future. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on how we can navigate all of this and continue enjoying our dirt bikes on this really awesome terrain.
