Florida International University is a powerful reminder that Dr. King’s dream is alive and thriving, with a profound impact on the lives of individuals and communities. We salute FIU for its outstanding work and my wife and I were pleased to have played a role in supporting your mission.

13 years ago my mom got a phone call, “Ms.Shaw, you need to come to Grand Strand hospital. Black is on life support and is about to die.”

The day before my junior year of college at Coastal Carolina University, I was attacked by an unknown amount of assailants. Those assailants were never caught.

That altercation led me to over 14 surgeries and the reconstruction of my right eye. I had to learn how to walk, talk, and eat again. My family would literally bathe me because I was unable to do it.

13 years later, I am stronger than I ever been. There are days that are still difficult.

I’m grateful for such an unfortunate event because it showed me that I wanted to be more than a crash out. I wanted to be more than I could imagine. Now, I’m not where I want to be in life but I’m closer and I know who I am.

On day 3 of life support, a man in a bright light appeared to me and I told him that if he gave me another chance at life I would share my story with the world 🌎! Immediately, I woke up and was awaken!

I am now in year 10 as a professional speaker. I have had the opportunity to share my story with hundreds of thousands of high school and college students. And I have no plans of slowing down. Share your story with the world.

And know that the promise before you is always greater than the pain behind you!

The goal of this event is to provide Juniors and seniors with decision making tips to help them excel during prom & graduation season!

You are at a major crossroad in life! It’s no need to down play it! Going in to Prom season can be an exhilarating process!

And yet the while, decisions are to be made! I’m talking critical thinking type of decisions!

You have so much in life to look forward to! Like your first apartment, car, house, “college house party ( bruh, it’s lit)”, don’t lose focus.

So that’s why coming to give us game about responsibility.

And then we gonna have a live performance from one of DA biggest artists from SC

Prom is not the finish line Graduation is!

Carvers Bay Early College & Career High School students were able to experience significant transformation while learning about their communities.

And our tour guides were energetic, enlightening, and engaging!

If you do not know, I serve high schools by creating programs to that increase engagement, retention, and graduation rates.

While serving Carvers Bay, I have had a first hand experience to thier successful and revolutionary journey led by Larry Odom!

Principal Odom has cultivated an environment where students are eager and educators are willing!

We started with 14 and ended with 14! 14 in! 14 Owt!

Scholarship states, “it takes 10 years to BE an overnight success!”
