Friday was a great first trip for Ms. Golub and Mrs. Fabian’s classes! Students shopped throughout the supermarket, carefully checking off each item they purchased. Along the way, they compared prices to make smart buying decisions and explored the differences between name brands and generic products.
After shopping, students enjoyed lunch at Italianos, where they practiced important money-management and restaurant skills in a real-world setting.

Plainedge elementary students were ALL SMILES this past week as they kicked off a new school year by meeting their new teachers, getting to know one another, learning their classroom routines, and building strong communities! 🥰

Our seventh graders took on the challenge of saving Sam, a.k.a. a gummy worm! They put their problem-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking skills to the test - and they were successful today!

Mr. Santamaria, one of the co-advisors of the Freshman Student Council along with the senior class officers welcome the incoming 9th graders to Plainedge high school this morning I may discuss the importance of getting involved in afterschool clubs and making a difference in the Plainedge community.

School hasn’t officially started yet, but we’re already off to a great start! This week, Mr. Cozzolino, Mrs. Czachor, Mrs. Kiernan, and Ms. Sweeney welcomed groups of 6th graders to our Middle School Bound Camp.

Students learned their way around the building, participated in team-building and organizational activities, and had the opportunity to meet and get to know their fellow 6th graders.

We’re so excited to welcome our newest middle school students and can’t wait for a fantastic year ahead!

Students in Ms. Golub’s class raised baby chicks as part of a hands-on study of the life cycle. Watching the chicks hatch and grow gave students a unique opportunity to observe development firsthand while learning about the stages of life, responsibility, and animal care. What an exciting learning experience!

Today was not an ordinary Field Day at Eastplain Elementary School… today the gates to the Upside Down opened for the greatest episode yet!

In the words of PE teacher Mr. Levitan to his students:
“Just like in Stranger Things, today was all about teamwork, courage, adventure and having fun together. You raced through relays, conquered obstacle courses, battled through tug-of-war, and took on challenges that might have felt stranger than usual! But you also remembered that Field Day isn’t just about winning. It’s about cheering each other on, showing great sportsmanship, and making unforgettable memories.”

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement Mr. Levitan! You will be missed. ❤️🖤

On Friday May 29th, John H. West enjoyed a picture perfect Field Day! The theme was Happy 250th Birthday, America 🇺🇸 and the red, white, and blue teams competed in many fun-filled events. This incredible day was organized by PE teachers Mrs. Erinn Martone and Mr. Matt Rich, along with administration and the PTA. Volunteers from Plainedge High School helped the day run smoothly (and kept everyone cool!). While the red team emerged victorious, the teamwork, sportsmanship and camaraderie shown by all made everyone a winner! 🥇

The school community gave our Middle School Robotics Team a special clap out today as they head to Kentucky to compete in the World Robotics Championships! With the band playing and students and staff cheering them on, we sent our team off with lots of school pride and support. Best of luck to our Middle School Robotics Team!

The Middle School 8th Grade Band, Orchestra, and Chorus had a fantastic time participating in the Trills and Thrills Music Festival. Students showcased their musical talents for judges and then enjoyed a fun-filled day riding roller coasters at Six Flags. A great day of music, memories, and fun!
