Pua is HOME! 🐷💗 Katie and Ashton Walker brought our girl back today, and she wasted absolutely no time heading straight for the mud puddle to roll around! 😂

A HUGE thank-you to the Walkers for caring for her since August 5—keeping her cool and giving her plenty of love, water, hay, and everything she needed while she recovered. We are so grateful!

Pua is thrilled to be home with her sister…although her sister doesn’t appear to be quite as excited about the reunion. 🤣🐷🐷

🌱 Fence Post Donations Needed! 🌱

Ms. Clevenger is getting ready to build fencing around the farm’s garden, and we are looking for metal T-posts like the ones pictured or wooden fence posts.

If you have any sitting around that you’re no longer using and would be willing to donate to the farm, we would be so grateful! Used posts are perfectly fine as long as they are still in good condition.

Please email Ms. Clevenger at [email protected] if you can help. Thank you for continuing to support our farm and our students! 💙💛

It’s Black Cat Appreciation Day, so of course we have to celebrate our girl, Jingles! 🐈‍⬛

Jingles doesn’t come out often, and when she does, everything is on her terms—including whether or not you’re allowed to pet her. If she’s hungry, she may give you a little swat just to make sure you get the message. 😂

She does an excellent job protecting the farm from mice, snakes and all the other things we would rather not see. When she’s off duty, you can usually find her catching a nap in Aflac’s old house. She’s funny, feisty and a very important part of our farm! We 💙 you Jingles!🐈‍⬛

You’ve been waiting for it, and we’re finally ready for you to meet Ms. Clevenger, our new farm teacher! We are so excited to introduce her to all of you and so happy to have her at the NLRMS Farm! 🌱🐖🐓

We are so excited to have her here and cannot wait to see all the wonderful things she does with our students and animals this year! We asked her a few questions so everyone could get to know her a little better.

What do you love about farming?
“I love farming because there’s something about being outside, working with the land and seeing the results of my hard work that just makes me happy. Farming has always brought me closer to God and His creation.”

Did you grow up around animals or agriculture?
“I grew up on a small farm where we grew tons of different produce. I also helped manage a larger-scale farm for six years. For the last two summers, I worked with the U of A Division of Agriculture doing plant research!”

Do you have any animals of your own?
“I have two dogs—a beagle named Charlie and a lab named Drake.”

What is something you hope students learn this year?
“I hope students learn important life skills they can take with them and use in the future! I also hope that after this year, they’ll love farming as much as I do.”

What is your favorite thing to grow?
“My favorite thing to grow would probably be cucumbers or any type of fruit. Cucumbers are my favorite vegetable, and growing fruit is fun because you get to make homemade jelly with it!”

Is there anything you want our families to know?
“I want them to know how excited I am for this year and how passionate I am about getting this farm back to being great!”

Please help us give Ms. Clevenger her a HUGE Wildcat welcome! 💙💛

Pua Update! 🐷💙

Pua is doing great!

She’s recovering in style at the Walkers’ house in her own little recovery suite with plenty of shade, a fan to keep her cool, and lots of belly rubs. Her incision is looking great, and she’s healing exactly like we hoped.

Recovery hasn’t been boring, though! She recently had a surprise visitor when Waffles, the Walkers’ resident raccoon, wandered over to say hello. Pua took one look at her unexpected guest and decided she’d rather be somewhere else! 😂 She also got a visit from one of the goats one evening, so she’s definitely making new friends… whether she wants to or not.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, checked on her, and cheered her on. She’s getting lots of love while she heals, and before long she’ll be back home at the NLRMS Farm where she belongs! 💙💛

Whew… what a day for Pua! ❤️🐷

We started bright and early this morning, loading Pua up (Thank you SO MUCH Ms. Clevenger, Callaway family, McDowell family, and Sellew family!) and taking her to Doubletree Vet Clinic in Little Rock, where Dr. Peck and his staff took wonderful care of her and successfully spayed her.

After surgery, she headed to the home of Ashton and Katie Walker, where she’ll be spending the next 10 days in her very own recovery suite. She’s doing great! She’s resting comfortably in the hay, enjoying the shade, a fan, and lots of love while she heals.

We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped make this possible—whether you donated, shared our posts, or cheered Pua on. Your support means the world to us, and we couldn’t have done this without you.

If you donated, don’t worry—we haven’t forgotten you! Thank-you notes are still coming. 💙

For now, Pua will be taking it easy, getting lots of rest, and soaking up all the love while she recovers. Thank you all for being part of her journey!

🐷❄️ Sola is thinking cool thoughts today! ❄️🐷

With temperatures soaring, we thought we’d share a picture of Sola enjoying a snowy day and pretending it’s not 100+ degrees outside! ☀️

Don’t worry—the farm crew is working hard to keep everyone comfortable. Our pigs are getting:
🍉 Fresh watermelon and other frozen treats
🧊 Ice added to their mud puddles
💦 Fresh, cool water three times a day

Here’s a fun pig fact: Pigs actually grow a thicker coat in the winter and shed much of it in the summer! That lighter summer coat helps them stay cooler, but they still rely on mud, shade, and plenty of fresh water because pigs don’t sweat like we do.

If you’d like to stop by and spoil them, we’d love your help! Watermelon, frozen corn, peas, berries, or other pig-safe frozen treats are always appreciated on these scorching days.

Stay cool, everyone… and maybe think a few snowy thoughts for Sola! 🐽💙

UPDATE: Thank you SO much Greg whirlpool bath for fixing the hose!

🚨 Farm SOS! 🚨

I’ve spent the last hour trying to fix our busted water hose, and I’m officially admitting defeat. 😅 I’ve tried everything I know, but I just can’t get it working.

If anyone would be so kind and so gracious as to stop by and help, I would be incredibly thankful. I’ve laid out everything I could think of that might help—a new nozzle, a clamp, and a few plumbing parts (see the picture). I just don’t know what I’m doing!

With this heat wave coming in this weekend, having a working hose is so important for keeping the animals cool and comfortable. If you have a few minutes and know how to fix it, we’d be so grateful for your help.

Thank you so much! ❤️🐷🐔

☀️🐷 Farm Update! 🐔🐰🐱

We have some exciting news… our new farm teacher is officially on board! 🎉 We can’t wait to introduce her on her official start date, but we’re already so excited about the passion, ideas, and heart she’s bringing to our farm program. We truly believe great things are ahead! 💙💛

In the meantime… Arkansas has turned into an oven! 🥵 Our volunteers are making multiple trips to the farm every day to refill water, top off mud puddles, hose everyone down, and make sure all of our animals are staying as cool and comfortable as possible.

Want to help? It’s easy! ❤️

🍉 Bring a watermelon (the pigs and chickens go crazy for it!)
🌽 Frozen corn
🫛 Frozen peas
🫐 Frozen berries

These cool treats help keep everyone hydrated and make the heat a little more bearable.

Feel free to stop by anytime! You don’t have to wait for someone to be there. Come say hello, toss the animals a cool snack, and enjoy a visit. Our animals love the extra attention!

And speaking of staying cool… 😸 Deuce has decided he’s officially on air conditioning duty this afternoon. While everyone else is outside beating the heat, he’s supervising the farm from the comfort of the A/C. We can’t really blame him! 😂

Thank you for loving our little farm family as much as we do. Every watermelon, every bag of frozen veggies, and every visit makes a difference. ❤️

Who needs A/C when you’ve got a mud puddle? 🐷 Sola knows exactly how to beat the heat!
