🍉 Happy Watermelon Friday, Chargers!

If you know, you know — Friday isn't quite complete without Dr. Eudy slicing up a watermelon for students at lunch. It's become one of those traditions the kids look forward to every week, and honestly, we love seeing the line form just as much as we love seeing the smiles after that first bite!

Thank you, Dr. Eudy, for another small way you make NRCA feel like home. 💙

🏐 First game of the season in the books! Our JV and Varsity Lady Chargers hit the court last night and gave it everything they had. So proud of how hard they played and the way they represented NRCA!

A big thank you to Coach Jackson for pouring into these girls and getting them ready for the season. We can't wait to see where this year takes our Lady Chargers! 💙

Computer Science in Action — Where Faith Meets Learning!

Our Upper School Computer Science students are putting their programming skills to work as they learn to format and write code to create a Number Guessing Game! Along the way, they’re practicing logic, problem-solving, attention to detail, testing, and debugging.

Biblical integration reminds our students that God is a God of wisdom, order, and purpose. The ability to reason, create, and solve problems reflects the gifts He has given us and should ultimately be used for His glory.

At NRCA, even learning to code is an opportunity to recognize God’s orderly design and develop the minds He has given us to create, solve, and serve.

Today in chapel, we welcomed Stephen Yates, Student Pastor at Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville, who brought us God's Word from the story of the Good Samaritan.

Our students were challenged to think about who their neighbor really is — and the answer is simple: everyone we come into contact with. Stephen reminded us that goodness and kindness are two sides of the same coin. Kindness without the goodness that comes from God can become performative — but when it flows from Him, it's the real thing.

Chapel closed with an invitation for each student to consider who in their life might need some extra kindness right now — and to pray for God's help with the neighbors who are hardest to love.

Grateful for Stephen and for the truth he shared with our Chargers today. 💙

This year, North River Christian Academy is centered on OVERFLOW, drawn from John 7:38: "Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'"

Our prayer for our Chargers this year is that they'd know a faith so full it spills over — into their classrooms, their friendships, and their families. We can't wait to see where God takes us in 2026–2027.

Our first day of school kicked off with chapel, and what a special way to begin! We were so glad to gather together again for this weekly tradition that means so much to our NRCA community.

Pastor Brady Gill shared a message tied to our theme for the year, "Overflow," rooted in John 7:38 — "Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" He spoke about how the Holy Spirit fills us to the point of overflow, and when that happens, everything and everyone around us is touched by it. Pastor Jonathan Shaw led us in worship with some of our students' favorite songs, and the room was filled with voices lifted together.

We can't wait to see how God moves in and through our students, staff, and families this year as we live out "Overflow" together.

Yesterday, our NRCA families came through all day for Open House — meeting new teachers, picking up class schedules, and reconnecting with friends. There's something special about watching students light up when they spot a classmate across the room, or see parents introducing themselves to the teacher who'll be walking alongside their child this year.

Moments like these are what make our school community what it is. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped kick off the year with so much excitement!

Tomorrow's the day!

While our students have been soaking up the last few days of summer, our NRCA teachers have been hard at work getting ready to welcome them back. Last week was full of orientation, with Mrs. Fletcher leading our teachers through training sessions to kick off the new year. On Wednesday, our team spent the morning in training with ANSAA, then celebrated with a little friendly competition at the bowling alley — because a team that learns together (and knocks down a few pins together) works better together!

Since then, our teachers have been busy transforming their classrooms into spaces ready for learning, laughter, and growth. Their hard work and preparation are a reflection of how much they care about our students and this school community.

We can't wait to welcome our Chargers back tomorrow morning. Here's to a year full of growth, faith, and new memories! 🧡
