It is with profound sadness that Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. announces the passing of our Brother Jesus “Carismatico” Magaña, who has entered the Omega Chapter.

Brother Magaña crossed into our Brotherhood at Illinois State University as #97 of the Gamma Chapter line L.L.F.A.N.F.O.U.R., on April 10, 2011, at 1:42 a.m.

For more than 15 years, Brother Magaña carried our letters and shared in the bonds of Brotherhood that connect Betas across generations. Today, we mourn alongside his family, friends, chapter brothers and all those whose lives were touched by his friendship and presence.

Though his time with us was far too short, the bonds of Brotherhood do not end here. His memory, his legacy and his place within Sigma Lambda Beta will remain with us always.

Rest in power, Brother Jesus “Carismatico” Magaña.

From one CHCI intern to another. 💜

Nearly three decades after spending the summer as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Intern, our Vice President of External Affairs, Miguel Ayala (Summer 1998 internship), had the opportunity to connect with Brother Francisco Adame of Alpha Chapter as he finishes his own CHCI internship this week as part of the Summer 2026 cohort.

Programs like CHCI do more than build résumés—they build leaders. Through hands-on experience on Capitol Hill, professional development, mentorship, and a lifelong network of Latino leaders, participants gain the tools and relationships that shape careers in public service, advocacy, business, and beyond.

Seeing Brothers from different generations connected through this incredible experience is exactly what Brotherhood is about.

If you’re a Sigma Lambda Beta undergraduate or recent graduate looking to grow as a leader, we encourage you to explore CHCI’s internship and fellowship opportunities. Your journey could be next.

Congratulations on an incredible summer, Brother Francisco—we can’t wait to see what’s next! 💜
