This dress is an homage to my late aunt, Renée. She loved sunflowers and she would dress in fully coordinated sunflower + denim outfits. And since this was late 80s & 90s that would include the vest, hat, purse, shoes and anything else w the flower or pattern of the day. She loved to write, travel, thrift shopping, and making friends wherever she went. Any putting w her felt like a full-on adventure. She was whimsical, funny, quirky, and loved a ‘car concert’ complete w dancing and singing. She achieved success and had many aspirations and hopes. I was a unique and special kid, but with her I always felt right at home and felt seen. I love who she has come to be in my life, even in the spirit realm. So when I saw this dress at a thrift store for $5, I knew it was meant for me.
