We had an AMAZING time engaging with the families at the Paul E. Culley ES Open House Resource Fair!💜

The students came ready to BUILD, CREATE, and INNOVATE and they were operating at HIGH levels! 🚀 We met so many wonderful students and families who jumped right into the STEM fun.

And this is just the beginning! 👀 We can’t wait to visit Paul Culley ES during the 2026–27 school year to bring even more BOTS, PLANTS & SOIL to their students and school community! 🤖🌱🪱

Innovation is growing at Paul E. Culley! 💡

🌱💦 Summer Campers—Check Those Hydroponic Planters

Remember those hydroponic crops from Green Our Planet? If you haven’t eaten them already, it’s time to change your water, add fresh nutrients, and check for algae!🥬💧

So, why does algae show up? Usually it’s one—or a combination—of these four things:

☀️ Too much sunlight
🧪 Too many nutrients
🌡️ Warm water temperatures
💧 Stagnant water

Algae isn’t just unsightly—it can reduce oxygen in the water and essentially suffocate your plant roots and other organisms living in the water.

For a small hydroponic planter, cleanup is pretty simple! 🧽 Use water with a small amount of dish detergent or vinegar and a loofah/scrubber to clean the planter. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly before refilling it and returning your plants.

Got a larger body of water with an algae problem? 👀 Head over to Jordon King to learn more about algae removal on a bigger scale!

Keep those roots clean, that water moving, and those crops growing! 🌱🤖💦

We were excited to welcome the Hope Henderson Homeschool Group as they traveled to North Las Vegas for an amazing STEMbotics session in bots, plants and bees at Nevada Partners!

Our young innovators explored bots, plants & bees while learning why bees are so important to our environment and what each of us can do to help protect them. 🐝💛

We hope they left inspired to “Save the Bees” and teach someone else how to do the same! Because when we share what we learn, our impact grows. 🌎🌱

Thank you, Hope Henderson Homeschool Group, for making the trip and learning with us!

We’re STILL upcycling palm tree leaves!

Today, we turned old palm leaves into a cool hair bow! 🎀🌴We used triangles as our design inspiration because triangles are one of the strongest shapes. For us, they also represent strength, stability, and making strong decisions. 🫶🏾

Who knew an old palm leaf could become something you can wear?! 🌱✨

What should we make next with our old palm tree leaves? Drop your ideas below! 👇🏾

Stay tuned…we’re not done creating yet!🤖🌱♻️

I woke up bright and early to begin preparing our Fall garden, and I kinda felt like Xena! 😂💪🏾

Friendly reminder: your Fall seedlings should already be growing! 🌱

Today we’re also upcycling our old corn husks instead of tossing them. 🌽♻️ Corn husks can be:

🌱 Added to compost as a brown material especially helpful here in Las Vegas where we don’t have tons of fallen leaves.

🌽 Used as mulch to help retain moisture and protect the soil, which is what we’re doing!

🫔 Saved and used to make tamales.

Nothing goes to waste in the garden!

⚔️ Now tell me… what’s the name of YOUR inner garden warrior? 💪🏾🤖🌱🪱

What a great day of learning, building, and growing! We had the opportunity to host our Rooted in Community event in partnership with SNUAPP inside an amazing hydroponic classroom which is managed by Greenside Up Farm!💧🌿

Students learned about the benefits of controlled traffic in gardens and farms including how limiting foot traffic can help protect the soil, reduce compaction, and support healthier plant growth. Then, they put STEM into action by building and programming their very own Soil Bots!🤖🌱🪱

Participants also:
🚲 Had a chance to win a bike in our raffle
🥗 Participated in a nutrition class
🌱 Enjoyed snacks prepared using fresh ingredients from Zion Urban Farm

From robotics and soil science to hydroponics and healthy eating, it was a great day of connecting STEM to the food we grow and eat!

A huge thank you to SNUAPP, Zion Urban Farm, our students, families, and community partners for helping us make the day special.

We tried something new at Sparrow + Wolf—real honeycomb served with dessert! 🍯✨ This was our first time ever eating honeycomb, and of course, anything involving bees gets our attention! 🐝

Honeycomb isn’t just beautiful—it can also offer some nutritional benefits. Raw honeycomb contains natural honey, beeswax, antioxidants, and small amounts of vitamins and minerals. Raw honey also contains plant compounds such as polyphenols, which are known for their antioxidant properties.

And yes—you can chew and eat the beeswax, although some people prefer to chew it like gum and discard the wax afterward.

Experiences like this are a great reminder of just how incredible bees are. From pollinating our gardens to producing honey and building those perfectly shaped hexagonal cells, bees stay busy! 🐝🌻🌱

Would you try real honeycomb in your dessert? 🍯👀

The weekend goes by so fast, and it’s almost Sunday!!! Here’s a very easy, healthy and tasty dish you can enjoy with family tomorrow because…it’s Sunday dinner!!

For dinner we’re cooking up a chicken breast stuffed with delicious cheeses, our homegrown lemon balm and a garden twist—we substituted dandelion greens for spinach! 🌱🐔🧀🍋

We love finding creative ways to bring what we grow straight to the dinner table!

🌱🍋Lemon Balm Benefits
• Contains antioxidants
• Traditionally used to support relaxation and calm
• May support healthy digestion and improves memory
• Adds a fresh, light lemony flavor to meals

🌼🌱 Dandelion Greens Benefits
• Packed with vitamins A, C & K
• A source of fiber, calcium and potassium
• Contains beneficial antioxidants
• A nutritious leafy green that can be sautéed and used in many of the same dishes as spinach

Growing food also teaches kids that the garden doesn’t stop at harvest—the real adventure is figuring out what we can create with it! 🌱💜

From the garden ➡️ to the kitchen ➡️ to the dinner table!

Eat Up Kids! 🍽️🌱
