We are still harvesting okra from our summer garden! After harvesting these beautiful okra, we decided to open those okra we dried for seeds from our summer garden! They have been drying for about two months! The results were very interesting!! 🫶🏾

When seeding okra be sure to take into account the size and maturity of the okra. We noticed the 4 inches okra sample produced seeds we’ll use in next year’s garden! We composted the okra husks! ✏️

The chickens made a new friend…a pigeon!

We have raised them to love everyone so we aren’t surprised that this pigeon has visited everyday this week 😄 But we also have a suspicion that he is very interested in their new grower food 😂

Our STEMbotics students are creating a buzz!

We are so proud of our students for serving on a panel for the Nevada Conservation League and doing an amazing job! Watching them share their voices and take on a new experience reminded us that young people deserve a place in conversations about our planet’s future. 💚

Just like bees, each of us has a role to play. Small actions like planting for pollinators, conserving water, reducing waste, and caring for our soil can grow into something powerful when we work together!

What a joy it is to experience new things alongside our students and their families! These moments help us learn, build confidence, and make memories while caring for the world we share.

Nature will teach you something if you slow down long enough to notice.

This morning, I took a walk with my youngest, and before we really noticed the pine tree in front of us, we smelled it. That strong, fresh scent of pine sap made us stop and take a closer look.

And of course…that turned into a science lesson. 😂🫶🏾

We talked about how when a pine tree is injured, it produces sticky resin or sap to help seal the wound and protect the tree from insects and harmful organisms.

Think about that…

The tree has its own way of protecting and healing itself.

But what makes it even more interesting is that pine trees have also been used by people for generations. Pine needles, bark, and resin have been used traditionally for different purposes, and scientists continue to study compounds found in pine for their potential beneficial properties.

So there we were, just taking a morning walk, learning that the same tree working to protect itself has also provided useful resources for people. 💚

That’s why I love learning through nature. Sometimes the best science lesson isn’t inside a classroom.

Sometimes you can smell it before you even see it.

Look how BIG our girls are getting! 🥹🐥➡️🐔

This week, we’re entering another stage of our chicken journey! We’re introducing fresh oregano straight from our garden and transitioning our girls to grower feed, which provides the balanced protein, grains, vitamins, and minerals growing chickens need as they continue developing.

Good nutrition during this stage helps support healthy growth, strong bones and muscles, digestive health, and prepares their bodies for healthy egg production later on.🥚💪🏾

But there was another problem to solve…

THEY NEED MORE SPACE!

So this morning, we pulled out the rest of our chicken netting and created an outdoor enclosure so the girls can officially “GO OUT ON THE TOWN!”😂🐔🏙️

During the day, they’ll have more room to explore, scratch, peck, forage, stretch their wings, and just enjoy being chickens. 🌱☀️ At night, everybody goes right back into the secured chicken house for protection. 🔒🐔

Now we need your vote because around here, we believe in using what we have, testing our ideas, and improving as we go!

Is this setup RAGGEDY…or INNOVATIVE?!🤖🐔

Because sometimes innovation looks a little questionable before you realize…IT WORKS!😂

What an amazing day of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship at our first 3D Printing Makers Market!

Before we started innovating, our students enjoyed the beautiful aroma of fresh lavender from STEMbotics Farms! 🌿💜 Lavender is commonly used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation, reduce feelings of stress, and create a calming atmosphere. This was a wonderful way to get our young innovators settled, focused, and ready to CREATE!

Then it was time to get to work! 🖨️💡

Our students came up with some AMAZING 3D designs, and we are proud to say they are officially YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS! 💼👏🏾 They’re learning that 3D printing isn’t just about making cool objects—it can be used to turn an idea into a product and a skill into a business.

🛍️ Be sure to visit the Las Vegas Homeschool Group at 3975 South Sandhill Road and support our young entrepreneurs by purchasing some of their amazing designs!

And we’re just getting started! 🍂💜

During the month of November. we’re excited to host our upcoming “3D Printing with Gratitude” sessions! Students will continue developing their 3D modeling, printing, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship skills while creating with a spirit of gratitude.

From lavender grown on the farm 🌿 to products created on a 3D printer 🖨️, we love showing our students that innovation can happen everywhere!

We are STILL shocked and incredibly thankful!

A huge THANK YOU to Juan, who reached out to us with an amazing surprise…he wanted to donate a BRAND-NEW printer and a gently used laptop to STEMbotics! 🖨️💻🙌🏾

We originally met Juan at a vending fair, and what made this moment even more special was learning that he had continued following our journey through our newsletters. He told us that he loves the work we’re doing with our young innovators and wanted to support our mission. 🥹💜

We had an awesome time experiencing the Pfizer Inc. Mobile Science Escape Room and engaging with their robotic dog! 🐕🤖

There are many different types of medicines, and it’s important for our young innovators to understand what ingredients are used to make them, how medicines work inside the body, and why different medicines are used to treat different illnesses and conditions. 💊🔬

At STEMbotics, we also believe that healthy food, exercise, and good nutrition are an important part of helping our bodies stay healthy and strong! So start your garden or visit a local farmers market as soon as you can! 🥦🍎🌱
