Adriana T., Alumni Spotlight
For Adriana, Cristo Rey St. Viator (CRSV) opened doors she never imagined. Through the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), she gained firsthand experience in healthcare, working alongside professionals at Dignity Health and UnitedHealthcare. These mentors taught her about how a hospital operates, how health insurance works, patient safety, and how to confidently ask questions. She says those experiences helped her become more confident, comfortable speaking with others, and more compassionate.
Adriana also became active in clubs and activities and, as a senior in CRSV’s first graduating class of 2023, received the school’s first Spirit of Viator Award for her involvement, leadership, and commitment to building a positive school community. She also enjoyed giving back through volunteer work with Three Square and The Just One Project.
Today, Adriana is in her fourth year studying nursing at UNLV and plans to attend nursing school after graduating in May 2027, either at UNLV or Nevada State University. She remembers Father Tom von Behren often saying, “Give each other a break,” a lesson she still carries with her. Her advice to current CRSV students is to be open to opportunities, take a chance, get involved, and give new experiences a chance.
