Jenn Walsh created Budding Lotus Learning Center LLC after a career of over 11 years with the Department of Defense, where she met her husband, a Marine Corps veteran, Adam Walsh. Jenn started babysitting at age 13 and consistently babysat for a family throughout high school, and had a part-time nanny position while in college at Seattle University. While in graduate school at American University
in Washington, DC, Jenn was a live-in nanny for two years with two different families. She took another part-time nanny position in Maryland while also working for the government full-time. Later, she volunteered with the Department of Labor's Job Corps program to mentor young women. While working in Hawaii, she began tutoring elementary school children while also teaching adults in her full-time government job. As a full-time teacher and part-time tutor, she realized teaching was her passion and she felt called to early childhood education as a way to ensure young people start out on the best possible path to a great education. She also loves practicing yoga and meditation and has created a child care program that incorporates these activities to help children develop emotionally and physically, as well as academically. When not working, Jenn's favorite activity is reading, and she is a member of multiple book clubs, and the organizer of one of them. She hopes to inspire a love of reading in the little ones she teaches. Budding Lotus Learning Center's adventure began in 2020, just as the pandemic shut downs were getting underway. For the first year, Jenn pivoted her business to help families navigate distance learning. Her distance learning assistance program provided care to four children from three families throughout the school day. After school, she tutored children from numerous other families over the course of the 2020-21 school year. With schools open, it is time to focus on traditional child care, though Jenn may still be able to offer tutoring as time allows. In 2024, Budding Lotus Learning Center relocated and is now known as Budding Lotus Learning Garden. We are now licensed as a group child care facility, so we have more spots available and another teacher, Ms.
