Blessings in a Backpack NK

A quick google search brought us to the national Blessings in a Backpack program. $130 will feed one child on the weekends for one 38-week school year.

The NK Blessings in a Backpack program mobilizes the North Kingstown community, individuals, and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary, middle & high school students who might otherwise go hungry. The North Kingstown Blessings In A Backpack program was started in 2012 after a Davisville Middle School Teacher became aware that some students were coming to school on Monday morning

s listless and unfocused due to experiencing food insecurity in their homes. A bag of food is discreetly placed in the participating child’s backpack and sent home each Friday. In partnership with local businesses, the NKSD program has grown to serve all eight public schools in North Kingstown and includes students in preschool through high school.

A particular thank-you to Dave's Fresh Marketplace for their $5,000 donation! For those of you who aren't aware, Dave's Marketplace plays a huge role in our program. In addition to financial support, they provide fresh fruit every week for the NK Blessings in a Backpack program!
