Academy Of Arms We are a non-profit western martial arts school serving the greater Los Angeles area. Our focus is historical fencing from medieval Europe.

OUR CLASSES

Recreational Program: Designed for busy people who struggle for free time to pursue their interests. A good choice if your career, family, or college life is your primary focus but you would still like to pursue a martial art. Historical Program: An immersive program for students with the time to pursue a deeper study of the weapons, history and culture of the Middle Ages. Group Class

es: We can arrange a group class for a single event (corporate retreat, birthday party etc) or a class taught on an ongoing basis. Fees vary by location, time, and size of group. Please email us for details about group classes. Private Instruction: private instruction is understandably more expensive than our general classes and not all students can be accepted. We are looking for disciplined individuals of any age with a genuine passion for the art. Please email us for details about private instruction. Youth Classes: our general classes are for adults, but youth training is provided via private instruction. Wow! The response to our last video was INSANE 🤯😱❤️
To really drive home the point that small women really can use any sword they want, here's a clip of our tiny dynamo, Alex, teaching Montante at SoCal Swordfight.
For reference Alex is 5'2" on a good day, and her sword is 5'6".

Like many martial arts schools, Academy of Arms has ranks!
You start as an Intro Student, move up to a Novice, then Apprentice, and Scholar.
Do we basically make you take the SAT of German Longsword to achieve the rank of Apprentice? .....yes.
But fear not! When you decide to pursue it, you're given your very own 🌟mentor🌟 to guide you through the process, and make sure you come out (mostly) unscathed.
Since this is quite the undertaking, our shiny new apprentices and their mentors are taken out for dinner and a well earned drink to celebrate!
Congrats to Ashley, Danielle, and Jo for passing their tests! And a big thank you to Paul, Brad, and Seth, for stepping up to be mentors, and continuing to foster the sense of community within our school.

May was unofficial roadtrip season for our brave fencers that decided to take on back to back tournaments ⚔️ 🚗 ⚔️
First our fighters ventured out to Carson City for Battleborn, then down to San Diego for Spring Steel!
I'm exhausted just thinking about it...
