Welcome new students and families entering 9th grade this fall! We're excited for you to join us very soon!

In preparation for the new school year, our family counselors will be reaching out to you between June and September to set up a meeting with you and your student to help you transition to your new school. These meetings will provide support with academic goals, addressing concerns, and identifying strengths and needs to help your student be successful this new school year! If you have any questions about these summer family success meetings, please feel free to reach out to your new school's main office.

We look forward to speaking with you and working with you to make this school year a joyful one!

We love to see our Valor Academy Elementary School students thriving!

KCAL News CBS Los Angeles featured Valor Elementary and Bright Star Schools’ approach and program to support our students’ mental health and well-being!

Through Bright Star’s approach to social emotional learning and support, including the RULER program from Yale University, our students are receiving robust support and learning important skills.

Valor Elementary principal May Oey explains, “We start with a morning circle and do a mood meter check in on how they’re feeling. After each break, they do mindful breathing.” And each classroom has a “calm corner” when students need a moment to center themselves.

Our students are thriving in the program. As student David says, “I like to do the hot cocoa breathing. When I’m sad, it helps me. When I’m mad, it helps me. It helps me a lot.”

We’re proud to support our students holistically, including their emotional well-being. Go Cubs! ❤️

Kalyna Astrinos profiles Valor Academy in Arleta, where teachers are taking a unique, hands-on approach to helping the youngest demographic of children affected by isolation of the COVID-19 lockdowns assimilate and react to social norms.

This week is National School Counseling Week, and we are thrilled to recognize and thank our incredible counselors!

Our counselors are critically important people in our students’ lives at every grade. Together, they put in millions of counseling minutes to support our students’ needs and their dreams.

At Bright Star Schools, we believe deeply in the power of our counselors for students’ success. Our counselors positively impact graduation rates, school attendance, college persistence, academic achievement, student culture, and more!

That’s why we have prioritized a low caseload for our counselors (an average 1:130 counselor-to-student ratio from kindergarten - 12th grade), and ensured every student in every grade has a strong counselor. By comparison, in the state of California, the average student-to-counselor is 509:1 (21-22 year data).

Our counselors make us ! Please join us in recognizing and thanking our incredible counselors!

As part of our whole child approach to supporting our students' learning and well-being, Valor Elementary teaches meditation to all students from kindergarten through 4th grade.

A fantastic Fall Festival at Valor Academy Middle School !

Evening Valor Families! Festival was a success! Our amazing Lions had a blast this afternoon on campus during our Fall Festival Event! Whether it was running in the sack race, getting their face painted or even jumping in one of the jumpers on the field, we were all so happy and excited to see our Lions having a day filled with fun! Special thanks to all who donated, volunteered and supported our scholars on today! Looking forward to next years! Hope you all are having a fun-filled and safe evening! 🦁🍁🍂
